2023 European Athletics Indoor Championships
The 2023 European Athletics Indoor Championships will be held from 2 to 5 March 2023 at the Ataköy Athletics Arena in Istanbul, Turkey, the first time the event has taken place in this country although the venue did stage the 2012 IAAF World Indoor Championships, 2012 World Indoor Championships. The four-day competition will be held during the centenary year of the Republic of Turkey, and will feature 13 men's and 13 women's athletics events over three morning and four afternoon sessions. More than 600 athletes from the 51 European Athletics Member Federations are expected to compete in Ataköy Arena. Reece Prescod
Reece Prescod (born 29 February 1996) is a British sprinter. He won the silver medal in the 100 metres at the 2018 European Championships and bronze for the 4 × 100 m relay at the 2022 World Championships. Prescod is a two-time British 100 m champion, and national champion over 60 metres indoors once. Career Reece Prescod qualified in first place at the GB trials to gain selection for the 2017 World Championships in Athletics, ahead of former World Championships finalist James Dasaolu. He competed in the men's 100 metres at the event, finishing seventh in the final. Having retained his British title in 2018, he finished second in the final of the 2018 European Athletics Championships, behind teammate Zharnel Hughes. Israel Olatunde
Israel Olatunde (born 29 May 2002) is an Irish professional track and field athlete specializing in the sprints. He competed at the 2022 World Athletics Indoor Championships, and reached the final of the 100 metres at the 2022 European Athletics Championships, the first Irishman ever to do so, and where he finished sixth in an Irish record time. He later broke the national record in the 60 metres in 2023. Early years Olatunde's parents, Elizabeth and Isaac, immigrated to Ireland from Nigeria in 1999 with their oldest son Gabriel. Israel was born in Drogheda and raised in Dundalk along with his older sister Sharon, though he made three trips to his parent's homeland during his upbringing. Ján Volko (born 2 November 1996) is a Slovak sprinter. He competed in the 60 metres at the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships. His biggest successes to date are: the silver medal at the 2017 European Indoor Championships with a new national record of 6.58, the gold medal at the 2019 European Indoor Championships, and the bronze medal at the 2021 European Indoor Championships. In 2020, he became the "face" of the game Athletics Mania by Slovak developer PowerPlay Studio. Volko is a practising Roman Catholic. Pascal Mancini (born 18 April 1989) is a Swiss sprinter who specializes in the 100 metres. He was born in Fribourg. He competed at the 2008 World Junior Championships, the 2009 European Indoor Championships, the 2010 World Indoor Championships without reaching the final, and the 2011 European U23 Championships. In the 4 × 100 metres relay he finished fourth at the 2007 European Junior Championships and competed at the 2009 World Championships. His personal best times are 6.61 seconds in the 60 metres (indoor), achieved in March 2011 in Paris in European Indoor Championship; 10.41 seconds in the 100 metres, achieved in June 2009 in Bellinzona; and 21.39 seconds in the 200 metres, achieved in May 2009 in Genève.
