2023 CAA Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2023 Colonial Athletic Association men's basketball tournament was the postseason men's college basketball tournament for the Colonial Athletic Association for the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The tournament was held March 3–7, 2023 at the Entertainment and Sports Arena in Washington, D.C. Charleston won the tournament, claiming the conference's automatic bid to the 2023 NCAA tournament. This was the final men's basketball tournament held under the Colonial Athletic Association name. On July 20, 2023, the CAA announced it had changed its name to Coastal Athletic Association. The name change did not affect the CAA initialism, and the conference kept its existing logo. Entertainment And Sports Arena
The Entertainment and Sports Arena is a multi-purpose events facility, located on the St. Elizabeths Hospital, St. Elizabeths East Campus, in Congress Heights, a residential neighborhood in southeast Washington, D.C. The arena is home to the Washington Mystics of the Women's National Basketball Association, WNBA and the Capital City Go-Go of the NBA G League. In addition, it houses a practice facility for the Washington Wizards of the National Basketball Association, NBA. The arena was officially opened on September 22, 2018. The 2022–23 CAA men's basketball season was the 37th season of Colonial Athletic Association basketball, taking place between November 2022 and March 2023. The season ended with the 2023 CAA men's basketball tournament. This was the first CAA season after James Madison left to join the Sun Belt Conference, and also the first season for four new CAA members— Hampton, Monmouth, North Carolina A&T, and Stony Brook.
