2023 Big Ten Men's Ice Hockey Tournament
The 2023 Big Ten Conference men's ice hockey tournament was the ninth tournament in conference history. It was played between March 3 and March 18, 2023, on-campus locations. As the tournament winner, Michigan earned the Big Ten's automatic bid to the 2023 NCAA Division I men's ice hockey tournament. Format The tournament featured a format with all games taking place on the campus of the higher-seeded teams. The tournament opened with three best-of-three quarterfinal series, as the second, third and fourth-seeded teams each hosting a series. The top-seeded team had a bye to the single-elimination semifinals. The highest-seeded team remaining after the semifinals hosted the championship game. The 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's ice hockey season began on October 1, 2022, and concluded with the NCAA championship on April 8, 2023. This was the 75th season in which an NCAA ice hockey championship was held, and was US college hockey's 129th year overall. Conference realignment On August 31, 2021, Alaska Anchorage announced that the $3 million fundraising goal had been reached and the team would return for the 2022–23 season. On February 23, Lindenwood University announced that they would be promoting their athletic program to Division I for the 2022–23 academic year. Then on March 17, Lindenwood announced that they would promote their men's ice hockey team from club to Division I, which was confirmed the next day by university president John R. Porter. Erik Portillo (born 3 September 2000) is a Swedish ice hockey goaltender for the Ontario Reign of the American Hockey League (AHL) as a prospect for the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL). Portillo was drafted 67th overall by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Junior Portillo played for the Dubuque Fighting Saints during the 2019–20 season. List Of Big Ten All-Tournament Teams
The Big Ten All-Tournament Team is an honor bestowed at the conclusion of the NCAA Division I Big Ten Conference tournament to the players judged to have performed the best during the championship game. The team is composed of three forwards, two defensemen and one goaltender with additional players named in the event of a tie. Voting for the honor is conducted by the head coaches of each member team once the tournament has completed and any player regardless of their team's finish is eligible. Jackson LaCombe
Jackson LaCombe (born January 9, 2001) is an is an American professional ice hockey defenseman for the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League (NHL). LaCombe was drafted 39 overall by the Ducks in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Amateur LaCombe attended Shattuck-Saint Mary's where he helped SSM win the 2016 USA Hockey Youth Tier I 14 U national championship. Jimmy Snuggerud (born June 1, 2004) is an American collegiate ice hockey right wing for the University of Minnesota of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
