2023 ACC Women's Basketball Tournament
The 2023 ACC women's basketball tournament concluded the 2022-23 season of the Atlantic Coast Conference, and was held at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina, from March 1–5, 2023. The 2023 edition marked the 23rd time in 24 years that the tournament was held in Greensboro. The winner received the ACC's automatic bid to the 2023 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament. Seeds All 15 ACC teams participated in the tournament. Teams were seeded by record within the conference, with a tiebreaker system to seed teams with identical conference records. The top four seeds received double byes, while seeds 5 through 9 received single byes. Seedings were finalized on February 26, 2023, after the final day of regular season play, with Notre Dame finishing in first place and earning the top seed. Greensboro Coliseum Complex
The Greensboro Coliseum Complex, commonly referred to as Greensboro Coliseum (the first and biggest building on the site), is an entertainment and sports complex located in Greensboro, North Carolina. Opened in 1959, the complex holds eight venues that includes an amphitheater, arena, aquatic center, banquet hall, convention center, museum, theatre, and an indoor pavilion. It is the home of the UNC Greensboro Spartans men's basketball team, the Greensboro Swarm of the NBA G League, the Carolina Cobras of the National Arena League, as well as the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) with their Men's and Women's basketball tournaments. 2022–23 Syracuse Orange Women's Basketball Team
The 2022–23 Syracuse Orange women's basketball team represented Syracuse University during the 2022–23 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Orange were led by first-year head coach Felisha Legette-Jack. The Orange were tenth year members of the Atlantic Coast Conference and played their home games at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, New York. Prior to the season beginning Felisha Legette-Jack was announced as the head coach at Syracuse. She took over from interim head coach Von Read. The Orange finished the season 20–13 overall and 9–9 in ACC play to finish in a tie for eighth place. Elizabeth Kitley
Elizabeth Ann Kitley (born September 17, 2001) is an American professional basketball player who played college basketball at Virginia Tech. She was drafted in 2024 by the Las Vegas Aces. Early life and high school career Kitley grew up playing basketball, softball and volleyball, preferring softball by fifth grade. She switched her focus to basketball before her freshman year at Northwest Guilford High School in Greensboro, North Carolina, when she stood 6 ft 2 in (1.88 m). As a sophomore, Kitley led Northwest Guilford to its first state championship at the 4A tournament and was named most valuable player (MVP) of the title game. She helped her team win another state title in her junior season, repeating as MVP of the title game. Deja Kelly
Deja Kelly (born September 8, 2001) is an American college basketball player for the North Carolina Tar Heels of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). She is a three-time first-team All-ACC selection. Kelly graduated from Duncanville High School in Duncanville, Texas, where she was named a McDonald's All-American. Early life and high school career Kelly developed an interest in basketball at age five, playing on courts in San Antonio, Texas. She trained under the guidance of her mother, Theresa Nunn, who also coached her on the Amateur Athletic Union circuit. Kelly drew inspiration from Skylar Diggins-Smith. She began playing varsity basketball as a freshman at Lady Bird Johnson High School in San Antonio. Elizabeth Balogun
Elizabeth Balogun (born 9 September 2000) is a Nigerian basketball player. She played college basketball for the Duke Blue Devils and the Nigerian national team. She plays for the Spanish Liga Femenina de Baloncesto side CB Bembire. High school career Balogun transferred to Hamilton Heights Christian Academy, Tennessee, in the eighth grade from Lagos, Nigeria. She averaged 15.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.7 blocks, and 2.1 assists. She made the ALL-USA Girls Basketball First Team at the end of high school. College career Balogun started as a freshman at Georgia Tech in 2018. Sonia Citron (born October 22, 2003) is an American college basketball player for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Early life and high school career Citron was born in White Plains, New York to Yolanda and William Citron. Her father played college basketball for Bradley, and her brother, Will, has played college soccer for Cornell and Virginia. She grew up playing soccer and began focusing on basketball in eighth grade, modeling her game after Sabrina Ionescu. Hailey Van Lith (born September 9, 2001) is an American basketball player for the LSU Tigers of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). She previously played for the Louisville Cardinals. At Cashmere High School in Cashmere, Washington, Van Lith was rated as one of the top recruits in her class, named a McDonald's All-American and left as the all-time leading scorer in state history.
