2022–23 Virginia Tech Hokies Men's Basketball Team
The 2022–23 Virginia Tech Hokies men's basketball team represented Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University during the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Hokies were led by fourth-year head coach Mike Young and played their home games at Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg, Virginia, as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. They finished the season 19–15, 8–12 in ACC play to finish in 11th place. In the ACC tournament, they defeated Notre Dame before losing to NC State in the second round. They received an at-large bit do the National Invitation Tournament where they lost to Cincinnati in the first round. Mike Young (basketball)
Michael Kent Young (born May 1, 1963) is an American college basketball coach and currently the head men's basketball coach at Virginia Tech. He was hired on April 7, 2019, after a 17-year stint where he went 299–244 () as the head coach at Wofford College. Career Born in Radford, Virginia, Young played collegiately at Emory & Henry College. After completing his career, which included serving as team captain during his junior and senior seasons, Young began his coaching career as an assistant coach at his alma mater. In 1988, he left Emory & Henry to serve one year as an assistant to Oliver Purnell at Radford University. In 1989, Young began his tenure as an assistant coach at Wofford. He would go on to spend the next 30 years at the school, helping to guide the Terriers in their transition from Division II to Division I independent status, and finally to a spot in the Southern Conference, where the Terriers compete today. The 2021–22 North Carolina Tar Heels men's basketball team represented the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill during the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team was coached by Hubert Davis, in his first season as UNC's head coach after the retirement of longtime coach Roy Williams. The Tar Heels played their home games at the Dean Smith Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. They finished the season 29–10 overall and 15–5 in ACC play to finish in a tie for second place. Storm Murphy (born January 3, 1999) is an American college basketball player for the Virginia Tech Hokies of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). He previously played for the Wofford Terriers. Early life and high school career Murphy attended Middleton High School in Middleton, Wisconsin. He joined the Chicago-based Mac Irvin Fire of the Nike EYBL after his junior season and averaged 8.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game, distinguishing himself among other top prospects. The Kansas State Wildcats men's basketball team represents Kansas State University in college basketball competition. De Lier () is a village in the Dutch province of South Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Westland, and lies about 5 km north of Maassluis. It also lies about below sea level. The 2021–22 Texas Longhorns men's basketball team represented the University of Texas at Austin in the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season.
