2022–23 Virginia Tech Hokies Women's Basketball Team
The 2022–23 Virginia Tech Hokies women's basketball team represented Virginia Tech, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University during the 2022–23 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Hokies, were led by seventh-year head coach Kenny Brooks, and played their home games at Cassell Coliseum as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Kenny Brooks (born December 20, 1968) is the current head coach of the Virginia Tech women's basketball team. Career Brooks played his collegiate basketball for the James Madison Dukes basketball program. Aisha Sheppard (born November 13, 1998) is an American professional basketball player. She was drafted and most recently played for the Las Vegas Aces in the WNBA. She played college basketball at Virginia Tech. College career Sheppard came out of high school as the Gatorade Player of the Year for Washington, D.C., as well as the 34th rated recruit of the 2017 Class per ESPN's HoopGurlz rankings. During Sheppard's freshman year, she became known as a 3-point sharpshooter. She led the team with 76 3-pointers made during the year. The 2021–22 Florida Gulf Coast Eagles women's basketball team represented Florida Gulf Coast University during the 2021–22 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Eagles, led by twentieth year head coach Karl Smesko, played their home games at the Alico Arena and were members of the Atlantic Sun Conference. They finished the season 30–3, 15–1 in ASUN play to win the ASUN regular season.
