2022–23 Nicholls Colonels Men's Basketball Team
The 2022–23 Nicholls Colonels men's basketball team represented Nicholls State University in the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Colonels, led by fifth-year head coach Austin Claunch, played their home games at Stopher Gymnasium in Thibodaux, Louisiana as members of the Southland Conference. Previous season The Colonels finished the 2021–22 season 21–12, 11–3 in Southland Play to finish as regular season champions. They lost in the semifinals of the Southland tournament to Texas A&M Corpus-Christi. As a No. 1 seed who failed to win their conference tournament, they received an automatic bid to the National Invitation Tournament where they lost in the first round to SMU. Austin Claunch
Austin Claunch (born November 17, 1989) is an American college basketball coach, and current head coach of the Nicholls Colonels men's basketball team. Playing career Claunch played four years at Emory, where he was a three-time First Team All- University Athletic Association selection, finishing his career with the Eagles as the school's all-time assists leader, and ranking eighth all-time in career points. Coaching career After graduation, Claunch spent the 2012–13 season as the director of player development under Paul Hewitt at George Mason, and from 2013 to 2015 served as a graduate manager at Clemson before being named the assistant video services director for the Tigers for the 2015–16 season. McKale Center
McKale Memorial Center is an athletic arena in the Southwestern United States, southwest United States, located on the campus of the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. As the home of the university's Arizona Wildcats men's basketball, Wildcats basketball team of the Pac-12 Conference, it is primarily used for College basketball, basketball, but also has physical training and therapy facilities. Its construction is marked with a large copper cap that has oxidized brown. In the 1960s, it was recognized that the Wildcats' basketball venue, Bear Down Gym, Bear Down Gymnasium, was outdated and in need of replacement. Major planning for the new facility began in 1966. During construction, the Wildcats briefly considered playing some of its 1971–72 home schedule in the then-newly completed 8,000-seat arena at the Tucson Convention Center, but eventually declined, remaining in Bear Down Gym until the new venue was ready. The 2022–23 Arizona Wildcats men's basketball team represented the University of Arizona during the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team led by Tommy Lloyd, in his 2nd season as a head coach. This is the Wildcats' 49th season at the on-campus McKale Center in Tucson, Arizona and 44th season as a member of the Pac-12 Conference. They finished the season 28-7, 14-6 in Pac-12 Play to finish a tie in 2nd place. They defeated Stanford, Arizona State, and UCLA to become champions of the Pac-12 Tournament. They received an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament where they were upset in the First Round by Princeton, becoming the 11th No. 2 seed to lose to a No. 15 seed. Cedar Hill is a city in Dallas and Ellis counties in the U.S. state of Texas. It is located approximately southwest of downtown Dallas and is situated along the eastern shore of Joe Pool Lake and Cedar Hill State Park.
