The 2022–23 Liga Națională season is the 73rd season of the Liga Națională, the highest professional basketball league in Romania. This will be the season with 18 teams divided into two conferences, placed by the previous regular season's standing. U-BT Cluj-Napoca are the defending champions. Liga Națională (men's Basketball)
The Liga Națională Baschet de Masculin (LNBM) () is the top-tier professional basketball league of Romania. Founded in 1950, the winner of the league is crowned the Romanian national champion. Currently, the league consists of 24 teams playing in three different divisions. The most successful club in the league's history is Dinamo București, who has won a record 22 titles. The clubs from the Liga Națională also participate in the European competitions, as they can qualify for the Basketball Champions League or the FIBA Europe Cup based on their performance in the national league and cup competition. Pitești () is a city in Romania, located on the river Argeș. FC Argeș Piteşti Basketball is a Romanian professional basketball club, based in Piteşti, Romania. The club competes in the Liga Națională, and has also been named in recent years CS Universitatea, BCM Piteşti and BCMUS Argeş Piteşti, CSU Piteşti, BCM U Piteşti and BCM U FC Argeș Piteşti. Horia Demian Sports Hall ( ro, 'Sala Sporturilor Horia Demian'), part of the city's Splaiul Independenţei sports complex, is a multi-use arena in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. It is used as the home ground of both the men's and women's handball and basketball teams of CS Universitatea Cluj-Napoca. It holds 2,525 seats. The arena is named in honour of Horia Demian, a local basketball player. It hosted the 2006 MTV Romania Music Awards. BTarena
The BTarena is a multi-purpose indoor arena that is located in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The arena was previously called the Polyvalent Hall but was renamed on 17 October 2017 when the facility entered into a new arena-naming rights agreement with Banca Transilvania. The venue holds 10,000 people in its largest configuration. The building is located next to the Cluj Arena. History The arena opened on 21 October 2014. The arena hosted a concert, on 31 October 2014, by English musician James Blunt, who sang from his album Moon Landing (album), Moon Landing. The concert had an attendance of upwards of 6,000. CS Universitatea Cluj-Napoca is a Romanian professional basketball club based in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The club, for sponsorship reason under the name U-Banca Transilvania Cluj-Napoca, competes in the Liga Națională. As other sports teams that were initially part of the parent sports club, U Cluj, for historical reasons, the club keeps the name U (short form of Universitatea) in its name. History Whilst the parent sports club, U Cluj was founded in 1919, the basketball team was founded in 1947 and played for the first time in the Romanian Championship in 1966.
