2022–23 Dundee F.C. Season
The 2022–23 season is Dundee's first season back in the second tier of Scottish football after being relegated from the previous season's Premiership. Dundee will also compete in both the Scottish League Cup, the Scottish Cup and the Scottish Challenge Cup. Season summary Pre-season Following Dundee's relegation the season prior, the club initiated a number of fundamental changes to the structure of the football department. After previously working mostly with the Youth Academy, Dundee's Technical Director Gordon Strachan would take a more active role with the first team going into the season. On 8 June 2022, Gary Bowyer was named as the new Dundee manager, with Billy Barr named as assistant manager. The club would also look to hire a Head of Recruitment to complete their structure, and would move the day-to-day operations of the club from Dens Park to Dundee and Angus College's Gardyne Campus. Gordon Strachan
Gordon David Strachan ( born 9 February 1957) is a Scottish former football coach and player. He played for Dundee, Aberdeen, Manchester United, Leeds United and Coventry City, as well as the Scotland national team. He has since managed Coventry City, Southampton, Celtic, Middlesbrough and Scotland. In club football, Strachan played 635 league games, scoring a total of 138 goals, playing 21 of 25 career seasons in either the English or Scottish top-flight. In international football Strachan earned 50 caps, scoring five goals and played in two FIFA World Cup final tournaments, Spain 82 and Mexico 86. Strachan retired from playing in 1997 at age 40, setting a Premier League record for an outfield player. Scottish League One
The Scottish League One, known as cinch League One for sponsorship reasons, is the third tier of the Scottish Professional Football League, the league competition for men's professional football clubs in Scotland. The Scottish League One was established in July 2013, after the Scottish Professional Football League was formed by a merger of the Scottish Premier League and Scottish Football League. Format Teams receive three points for a win and one point for a draw. No points are awarded for a loss. Teams are ranked by total points, then goal difference, and then goals scored. At the end of each season, the club with the most points is crowned league champion. If points are equal, the goal difference determines the winner. If this still does not result in a winner, the tied teams must take part in a playoff game at a neutral venue to determine the final placings. Somerset Park
Somerset Park is a football stadium located in Ayr, South Ayrshire, Scotland. It has been the home of Ayr United since they were founded in 1910. Prior to that, it was the home ground of Ayr, who merged with Ayr Parkhouse to form Ayr United. History Ayr commissioned Somerset Park in 1888 to replace Beresford Park. Ayr needed an alternative venue for a friendly match against Aston Villa because Beresford Park was being used for the Ayr Cattle Show at the time. The Beresford Park clubhouse and grandstand were dismantled and reassembled at Somerset Park. Ayr entered the Scottish Football League in 1897, but failed to seriously challenge for promotion to the First Division. Greenock Morton Football Club is a Scottish professional football club, which plays in the Scottish Championship. The club was founded as Morton Football Club in 1874, making it one of the oldest senior Scottish clubs. Morton was renamed Greenock Morton in 1994 to celebrate the links with its home town of Greenock. Patrick Liney (14 July 1936 – 10 August 2022) was a Scottish professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He played for clubs in both Scotland and England for Dalry Thistle, Dundee, St Mirren, Bradford Park Avenue and Bradford City. Born in Paisley, Liney was Dundee's first-choice goalkeeper during their 1961–62 Scottish Division One season, in which Dundee won the only league championship in the club's history.
