The 2022–23 season was the 139th season in the existence of Derby County F.C., Derby County Football Club and the club's first season in the third-tier of English football since the 1985–86 in English football, 1985–86 season following relegation in the 2021–22 Derby County F.C. season, previous season. In addition to the league, they also competed in the 2022–23 FA Cup, the 2022–23 EFL Cup and the 2022–23 EFL Trophy. Derby ( ) is a city and unitary authority area in Derbyshire, England. It lies on the banks of the River Derwent in the south of Derbyshire, which is in the East Midlands Region. Max Andrew Bird (born 18 September 2000) is an English footballer who can play either as a defensive midfielder or central midfielder for club Derby County. He made his first-team debut in September 2017, aged 16. Career Having progressed through the Derby County Academy, Bird made his debut for the first team against Barnsley in the EFL Cup on 12 September 2017. Thomas John Barkhuizen (born 4 July 1993) is an English professional footballer who plays a forward for EFL League One club Derby County. Career Blackpool Born in Blackpool, Barkhuizen played junior football on the Fylde coast with Blackpool Rangers. In May 2009 he signed on as a first-year scholar with Blackpool's youth department. Eiran Joe Cashin (born 9 November 2001) is a professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Derby County. Born in England, he was a youth international for the Republic of Ireland. Club career Derby County A youth product of Derby County, Cashin first played as a central midfielder for the academy, before being converted to a central defender. James Chester
James Grant Chester (born 23 January 1989) is a professional footballer who plays as a centre-back and is a free agent. Chester began his career with Manchester United but made only one appearance for the club. He had spells on loan at Peterborough United, Plymouth Argyle and Carlisle United before joining Hull City in January 2011 on a permanent contract. Conor Geraroid Hourihane () (born 2 February 1991) is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a central midfielder for Derby County and the Republic of Ireland national team. Craig Forsyth (born 24 February 1989) is a Scottish professional footballer who plays as a left-sided defender for English club Derby County. Joseph Charles Wildsmith (born 28 December 1995) is an English professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Derby County.
