2022–23 Colorado Avalanche Season
The 2022–23 Colorado Avalanche season was the 44th season for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise that joined the league in 1979, 27th playing season since the franchise relocated from Quebec prior to the start of the 1995–96 NHL season, and 51st season overall, including their play in the World Hockey Association (WHA), where the franchise was established in 1972. They entered the season as the defending Stanley Cup champions. On April 4, 2023, the Avalanche clinched a playoff spot after a overtime win against the San Jose Sharks. They were upset in the first round by the Seattle Kraken, losing in seven games. Central Division (NHL)
The NHL's Central Division was formed in 1993 as part of the Western Conference in a league realignment. Its predecessor was the Norris Division and its also one of two successors to the Northwest Division. The Chicago Blackhawks have been a member of the Central Division in all of its seasons since the original 1993 realignment. The Arizona Coyotes (as the original Winnipeg Jets), Dallas Stars and St. Louis Blues were also original members of the division, but were realigned to a different division for a while before returning; both the Coyotes and Stars were moved to the Pacific Division in 1998 (the Stars moved back to the Central in 2013, and the Coyotes followed in 2021), while the Blues were moved to the West Division during the temporary 2021 realignment. Quebec Nordiques
The Quebec Nordiques (french: Nordiques de Québec, pronounced in Quebec French, in Canadian English; translated "Quebec City Northmen" or "Northerners") were a professional ice hockey team based in Quebec City. The Nordiques played in the World Hockey Association (1972–1979) and the National Hockey League (1979–1995). The franchise was relocated to Denver, Colorado in May 1995 and renamed the Colorado Avalanche. They played their home games at the Colisée de Québec from 1972 to 1995. The 2022–23 Dallas Stars season was the 56th season for National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 5, 1967, and the 30th season since the franchise relocated from Minnesota prior to the start of the 1993–94 NHL season. The first game of the season was played at Bridgestone Arena against the Nashville Predators on October 13, 2022, with the first home game against the Predators at American Airlines Center on October 15. During the off-season, Rick Bowness resigned as head coach of the Stars, and Peter DeBoer was hired to replace him. On April 3, 2023, the Stars clinched a playoff spot after a win over the Nashville Predators. In the playoffs, the Stars defeated the Minnesota Wild in the First Round in six games. Pavel Francouz (; born 3 June 1990) is a Czech professional ice hockey goaltender for the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League (NHL). Francouz won the Stanley Cup with the Avalanche in 2022. Playing career Czech Republic Francouz first played at the junior level within the ranks of hometown club, HC Plzeň. As a 15-year-old he backstopped the club's under-18 team in the 2005–06 season posting sub 2.00 GAA. In the following 2006–07 season he led the league with 25 wins. The 2022–23 Vegas Golden Knights season was the sixth season for the National Hockey League franchise that started playing in the 2017–18 season. On March 30, 2023, the Golden Knights clinched a playoff berth after the Nashville Predators lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins, returning to the playoffs after missing the previous postseason. The Golden Knights then clinched their third Pacific Division championship, as well as the first seed in the Western Conference, with a victory over the Seattle Kraken on April 13, 2023. Justus Hermanni Annunen (born 11 March 2000) is a Finnish professional ice hockey goaltender for the Colorado Eagles of the American Hockey League (AHL) as a prospect to the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League (NHL). In January 2023, the Kraken became the first team in NHL history to win all seven games of a road trip.
