2022–23 Buffalo Sabres Season
The 2022–23 Buffalo Sabres season was the 53rd season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on May 22, 1970. This was the first season since the inaugural season in 1970–71 in which Rick Jeanneret did not call games. With a win against the Detroit Red Wings on April 5, they clinched their first winning season since 2010–11. Despite this, the Sabres missed the playoffs for the 12th consecutive season. The Sabres continued the longest playoffs drought in NHL history, as they were eliminated from playoff contention after a loss to the New Jersey Devils on April 11, 2023. Atlantic Division (NHL)
The National Hockey League has used the name Atlantic Division for two distinct groups of teams. The original Atlantic Division, the predecessor of which was the Patrick Division, was formed in 1993 as part of the Eastern Conference in a league realignment. As part of a 2013 realignment, the entirety of the former Atlantic Division was realigned into the Metropolitan Division. The Atlantic Division name was assigned to a new division comprising the entirety of the former Northeast Division plus the Florida Panthers and the Tampa Bay Lightning (coincidentally, both were members of the original Atlantic Division until 1998) from the now-dissolved Southeast Division, and the Detroit Red Wings, who moved from the Central Division of the Western Conference. 1970–71 Buffalo Sabres Season
The 1970–1971 Buffalo Sabres season was the Sabres' 1st season in the National Hockey League. The Sabres had the first pick in the 1970 NHL Amateur Draft, which they used to select Gilbert Perreault. Led by Perreault's NHL rookie record of 38 goals, the Sabres would 24–39–15, ahead of the Vancouver Canucks and Detroit Red Wings in the Eastern Division. However, they finished 19 points behind the Toronto Maple Leafs in the division, and finished 19 points short of a playoff berth. The Sabres played their home games in the Buffalo Memorial Auditorium. "The Aud" was previously home of the Buffalo Bisons AHL team. To make way for the Sabres the Bisons folded following the 1969–70 AHL season, which saw the Bisons win their fifth and final Calder Cup. The 2022–23 Seattle Kraken season was the second season for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise. They played their home games at Climate Pledge Arena. In January 2023, the Kraken became the first team in NHL history to win all seven games of a road trip. On April 6, the Kraken clinched a playoff spot for the first time in franchise history after a win over the Arizona Coyotes. On April 30, the Kraken won their inaugural playoff series in seven games, upsetting the defending champion Colorado Avalanche. Eric Comrie
Eric Comrie (born July 6, 1995) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender currently playing for the Rochester Americans while under contract with the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected by the Jets in the second round (59th overall) in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Amateur Comrie was born in Edmonton, Alberta but moved to Newport Beach, California with his family when he was nine. He played minor ice hockey with the LA Selects (now the LA Jr. Kings) in the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League. As a youth, he played in the 2008 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with the LA Selects. Comrie was drafted in the 1st round, 13th overall, by the Tri-City Americans in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft. The 2022–23 Florida Panthers season was the 29th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established in 1993. It is the Panthers' 24th season at FLA Live Arena. This is the Panthers' first season under new head coach Paul Maurice. The Panthers qualified for the playoffs after the Buffalo Sabres and Pittsburgh Penguins each lost their games on April 11, 2023. After barely clinching a wild card spot in the playoffs, the Panthers were set to face the Boston Bruins, who had set the NHL record for most wins and points in a season. Craig Peter Anderson (born May 21, 1981) is an Americans, American professional ice hockey goaltender for the Buffalo Sabres in the National Hockey League (NHL). He has previously played with the Chicago Blackhawks, Florida Panthers, Colorado Avalanche, Ottawa Senators, and Washington Capitals. Internationally, Anderson has represented the United States men's national ice hockey team, United States on multiple occasions. At 41 years of age, he is the oldest active goalie in the NHL, and the last to have been originally drafted in the 1990s.
