2022–23 Brøndby IF Season
The 2022–23 Brøndby IF season was Brøndby IF's 42nd consecutive season in top-division of the Danish football league, the 33rd consecutive in Danish Superliga, and the 57th as a football club. Besides the Superliga, the club also competed in the Danish Cup and this season's editions of the UEFA Europa Conference League. It was the fourth season with head coach Niels Frederiksen, after he replaced caretaker manager Martin Retov during the 2019–20 campaign. The team started the season poorly and by the end of August were in the lower realms of the league table, where they remained until the winter break. As a result of the disappointing results, head coach Niels Frederiksen was sacked in November, and replaced by his former assistant Jesper Sørensen. By the end of March, results had improved somewhat and being in sixth place, they secured a spot in the championship round. Brøndby IF
Brøndbyernes Idrætsforening (, usually abbreviated to Brøndby IF (), is a professional association football club based in Brøndbyvester, Capital Region of Denmark. The club was founded in 1964 as a merger between two local clubs and was promoted to the Danish top-flight football league in 1981. Brøndby IF has won 11 Danish championships and 7 Danish Cups. Danish 2nd Division
The 2nd Division ( da, Danmarksturneringens 2. division or Herre-DM 2. division) is a semi-professional association football league for men and the third division in Denmark. It is organised by the Divisionsforeningen on behalf of the Danish Football Association (Danish FA; DBU) as part of the nation-wide Danmarksturneringen i fodbold (Herre-DM) and is positioned between the second-tier 1st Division and the fourth-tier Danish 3rd Division in the Danish football league system. Clubs in the league must meet certain criteria concerning appropriate facilities and finances. All of the 2nd Division clubs qualify for the proper rounds of the DBU Pokalen. The number of promoted and relegated clubs has fluctuated over the years. Oscar Schwartau (born 17 May 2006) is a Danish professional footballer who plays for Danish Superliga club Brøndby. He has represented Denmark at youth levels. Career On 17 May 2022, Schwartau signed a three-year contract with Brøndby IF which tied him to the club until the summer 2025. He was officially promoted to the first team during 2022–23 pre-season and assigned the number 41 jersey. Mathias Damm Kvistgaarden (; born 15 April 2002) is a Danish professional footballer who plays as a forward for Danish Superliga club Brøndby. He has represented Denmark at youth level. Club career Brøndby Youth Born in Birkerød, Kvistgaarden began his career at hometown club IF Skjold Birkerød. Aarhus Gymnastikforening (; commonly known as AGF ), is a professional sports club based in Aarhus, Jutland, Denmark.
