2022–23 Baylor Bears Women's Basketball Team
The 2022–23 Baylor Bears women's basketball team represented Baylor University in the 2022–23 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Bears, members of the Big 12 Conference, played their home games at the Ferrell Center in Waco, Texas and are led by second-year head coach Nicki Collen. Previous season The Lady Bears finished the 2021–22 season with a record of 28–7, 15–3 in Big 12 play, to win the Big 12 regular season title. They defeated Oklahoma State and Oklahoma in the quarterfinals and semifinals to advanced to the championship game of the Big 12 women's tournament where they lost to Texas. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament in the Wichita Region, they defeated Hawaii in the first round before getting upset by South Dakota in the second round. The 2021–22 Baylor Bears women's basketball team represented Baylor University in the 2021–22 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Bears, members of the Big 12 Conference, played their home games at the Ferrell Center in Waco, Texas and were led by first-year head coach Nicki Collen. This is the first season in which the terms "men's" and "women's" are needed to distinguish Baylor's basketball teams. Before this season, Baylor women's basketball had used the nickname "Lady Bears", but on September 3, 2021, the school announced that basketball, soccer, and volleyball, the last three Baylor women's sports still using "Lady", would use only "Bears" from that point forward. NaLyssa Smith (born August 8, 2000) is an American professional basketball player for the Indiana Fever of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She played college basketball for Baylor, winning the NCAA Division I Championship in 2019 and the Wade Trophy in 2021. She was drafted second overall by the Fever in the 2022 WNBA draft. Inkster is a city in Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan. At the 2010 census, the city population was 25,369. History The area was originally inhabited by Native Americans. It was settled by non-indigenous people in 1825. A post office named "Moulin Rouge" was established there in December 1857.
