2022–23 Anaheim Ducks Season
The 2022–23 Anaheim Ducks season was the 30th season for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise that was established on June 15, 1993. The Ducks attempted to improve on a disappointing 2021–22 campaign (a 31–37–14 record; 76 points) and return to the playoffs for the first time since 2018, when they were swept in the first round by the San Jose Sharks. This is also the first season without longtime captain Ryan Getzlaf as he retired at the end of the 2021–22 season. This is the first season the Ducks have entered without a captain. The Ducks were eliminated from playoff contention on March 19, 2023, after a loss to the Vancouver Canucks and finished with a worse record than the previous season. Pacific Division (NHL)
The National Hockey League's Pacific Division was formed in 1993 as part of the Western Conference in a league realignment. It is also one of the two successors of the Smythe Division (the other one was the Northwest Division), though of the current teams, only the Anaheim Ducks, Seattle Kraken and Vegas Golden Knights did not play in the Smythe Division. Due to subsequent realignments, three of the Pacific Division's original teams (the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, and Vancouver Canucks) left the division in 1998 but returned in 2013. The division is the only one in the NHL without any Original Six teams. The Anaheim Ducks are an American professional ice hockey team based in Anaheim, California. They are members of the Pacific Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). The club was founded in 1993 by The Walt Disney Company as the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, a name based on the 1992 film '' The Mighty Ducks''. The 2022–23 Arizona Coyotes season was the 44th season for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise that was established on June 22, 1979, the 27th season since the franchise relocated from Winnipeg following the 1995–96 NHL season, and the 51st overall season, including the World Hockey Association years. 1999–2000 Atlanta Thrashers Season
The 1999–2000 Atlanta Thrashers season was the inaugural campaign for the franchise that would play in Atlanta for 11 seasons. The Thrashers finished their inaugural season with an NHL-worst record of 14–57–7–4 for 39 points. To date, it is the worst season in the history of the Atlanta Thrashers/Winnipeg Jets franchise. In addition, it represents the lowest full-season point total since the beginning of the NHL's "three-point" standings system in 1999–2000, as well as the lowest point total for any team playing an 82-game season. Goal difference, goal differential or points difference is a form of tiebreaker used to rank sport teams which finish on equal points in a league competition. Either "goal difference" or "points difference" is used, depending on whether matches are scored by goals (as in ice hockey and association football) or by points (as in rugby union and basketball). Bob Murray (ice Hockey, Born 1954)
Robert Frederick Murray (born November 26, 1954) is a Canadian professional ice hockey executive and former player. He most recently served as the general manager of the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League. Murray played in the NHL from 1975 to 1990 as a defenceman with the Chicago Black Hawks. He player for the Cornwall Royals of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) from 1971 to 1974, where he won a Memorial Cup, before the Black Hawks drafted him 52nd overall in the 1974 NHL Amateur Draft. 2021–22 NHL Season
The 2021–22 NHL season was the 105th season of operation (104th season of play) of the National Hockey League (NHL). The league expanded to 32 teams with the addition of the Seattle Kraken. The league had an October-to-April regular season scheduling and a full 82-game regular season for the first time since the 2018–19 NHL season as the previous two NHL seasons were shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The season began on October 12. On December 22, all games were suspended league-wide through at least December 26 (officially termed as an extension of the regularly scheduled Christmas break), in order to reconcile COVID-19 outbreaks that had impacted a large number of teams and resulted in various game postponements. Ryan Getzlaf
Ryan Getzlaf (born May 10, 1985) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. Getzlaf played his entire NHL career with the Anaheim Ducks and is the franchise's all-time leading scorer. A first-round selection, 19th overall, at the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, he played in three NHL All-Star Games and was a member of the Ducks' 2007 Stanley Cup championship team. A playmaker and power forward, Getzlaf is the Ducks' all-time leader in games played, assists, and points and the all-time playoff leader in goals, assists and points. He led the Ducks in assists twelve times, including a franchise record of 66 in 2008–09, and in points eight times.
