2022 World Athletics Championships – Men's 10,000 Metres
The men's 10,000 metres at the 2022 World Athletics Championships was held at the Hayward Field in Eugene on 17 July 2022. Summary After sorting themselves through the break, Carlos Mayo took over the point, followed by world record holder Joshua Cheptegei and the full American contingent of Grant Fisher, Joe Klecker and Sean McGorty. Near the back of the pack Stanley Mburu fell to the track, getting quickly to his feet and returning to the pack with a noticeable welt developing on his right knee. For the next 8 laps, Mayo led them through a steady diet of 66 second laps. On the third lap, Mburu was tripped again but kept upright. Next to take over leading duties was Cheptegei's Ugandan teammate Stephen Kissa. This move got the attention of Olympic Champion Selemon Barega who moved into the top group. Hayward Field
Hayward Field is a track and field stadium in the northwest United States, located on the campus of the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon. It has been the home of the university's track and field teams since 1921, and was the on-campus home of the varsity football team from 1919 through 1966. Track and field competitions at the stadium are organized by the not-for-profit organization TrackTown USA. Ahmad Hassan Abdullah
Ahmad Hassan Abdullah ( ar, عبد الله أحمد حسن, born Albert Chepkurui on July 29, 1981 in Kaptarakwa, Kenya) is a long-distance and cross country runner, now representing Qatar after his switch from Kenya in 2003. Other runners who have made the same switch include Saif Saeed Shaheen. Abdullah has won bronze medals at the 2005 IAAF World Cross Country Championships and the 2004 and 2008 editions of the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships. Kenenisa Bekele ( om, Qananiisaa baqqalaa; am, ቀነኒሳ በቀለ; born 13 June 1982) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner. He was the world record holder in both the 5000-metre and 10000-metre from 2004 (5,000m) and 2005 (10,000m) until 2020.
