2022 Women's Trans-Tasman Hockey Series
The 2022 Trans–Tasman Hockey Series was a women's field hockey series, comprising four test matches between the national teams of Australia and New Zealand. The series was held at the National Hockey Centre in Auckland, from 10 to 15 May. Due to the ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the series was the first time the two teams played an international match since August 2021, in their respective matches at Olympic Games. The series was scheduled to be held alongside the men's event, however this was postponed due to COVID related issues. Ambrosia Malone
Ambrosia Malone (born 8 January 1998) is an Australian field hockey player. Personal life Malone was born in Southport, Gold Coast, Queensland, and made her senior international hockey debut in a test series against Spain in January 2018. Eight years earlier Malone represented Australia in football when she was selected in the Football Australia U13 Women's team which competed in the AFC Festival of Football in Vietnam. A natural left-footer, she was the only U12 player selected in the group and held down the left defender position. She was named in the Football Australia All Stars (national) squad each subsequent year and in 2012, at U14, was the youngest player named in the FAU17 Junior World Cup Squad. Kaitlin Nobbs
Kaitlin Nobbs (born 24 September 1997) is an Australian field hockey player. She has played for the Australian national team, the Hockeyroos. Early life Nobbs is the daughter of Australian field hockey players Michael Nobbs and Lee Capes. Her father played in the 1984 Summer Olympics and coached the Indian men's team at the 2012 Summer Olympics, while her mother won the gold medal at the 1988 Summer Olympics. Her aunt Michelle Capes and uncle Mark Hager also represented Australia at field hockey at the Olympic Games. Nobbs has an older sister, Jaimee, who is a competitive figure skater. Stephanie "Steph" Kershaw (born 19 April 1995) is a field hockey player from Australia. Personal life Kershaw was born in Townsville, Queensland. She plays hockey for her home state in the Australian Hockey League, as part of the Queensland Scorchers team. Career Senior national team Kershaw made her senior international debut in a test series against Korea in September 2015. Following her debut in September, Kershaw was part of the Australian team that won the 2015 Oceania Cup in October. Harriet 'Hattie' Ngaire Shand (born 11 January 2000) is a field hockey player from Australia, who plays as a defender. Personal life Hattie Shand was born in Naracoorte, South Australia and grew up in Langkoop, Victoria, at the age of two she was diagnosed with autism. She attended Naracoorte Primary School and Naracoorte High School, she currently studies part-time at the University of Adelaide. Greta Hayes (born 17 October 1996) is an Australian field hockey player. Career Junior National Team Hayes first represented Australia's Under 21 side, the Jillaroos, at the 2016 Junior Oceania Cup. The tournament served as a qualifier for the 2016 Junior World Cup held in Chile. In October 2016, Hayes was named in the Jillaroos team for the Junior World Cup. At the tournament, Hayes scored two goals, with the team securing the bronze medal after defeating Spain in a penalty shoot-out. Meg Pearce (born 1 July 1994) is an Australian field hockey player, who plays as a defender and midfielder. Personal life Meg Pearce grew up in Melbourne, Victoria (Australia), Victoria. Her father participates in Ironman (surf lifesaving), Ironman events, and her mother runs in marathons. Following after her father and sister, both hockey players, she started playing hockey when six years old, at the Doncaster Hockey Club, in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Madison Fitzpatrick (born 14 December 1996) is an Australian field hockey player. Fitzpatrick was born in Wollongong, and made her senior international debut in a test series against Korea in September 2015. Fitzpatrick was part of the Australian women's junior national team 'The Jillaroos' that won bronze at the 2016 Hockey Junior World Cup in Chile, as well as the Jillaroos team at the 2013 Hockey Junior World Cup. Goalkeeper (field Hockey)
Field hockey is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with ten outfield players and a goalkeeper. Teams must drive a round hockey ball by hitting it with a hockey stick towards the rival team's shooting circle and then into the goal. The match is won by the team that scores the most goals. Matches are played on grass, watered turf, artificial turf, synthetic field, or indoor boarded surface. The stick is made of wood, carbon fibre, fibreglass, or a combination of carbon fibre and fibreglass in different quantities.
