2022 Women's Oceania Cup
The 2023 Women's Oceania Cup was the twelfth edition of the Women's Oceania Cup after the cancellation of the 2022 edition due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the biennial international women's field hockey championship of Oceania organised by the Oceania Hockey Federation. It was held from 10 to 13 August 2023. New Zealand were the defending champions, having won the 2019 edition. Australia, as the winner, qualified for the 2024 Summer Olympics. Amy Lawton
Amy Rose Lawton (born 19 January 2002) is an Australian field hockey player. Personal life Amy Lawton was born in Worthing, England before relocating to Emerald, Victoria at the age of 7 with her parents and younger sister. She began playing hockey at nine years of age for her local club Casey, before moving to Cheltenham-based Southern United Hockey Club two years later. As well as hockey, Lawton also plays soccer and competes in triathlons, and has made representative teams for Victoria in all three sports. Lawton is a current scholarship holder at the Victorian Institute of Sport. Career Junior national teams Under 18 In 2018, Lawton made her debut for the Australian Under 18 team at the Oceania Youth Olympic Games Qualifier in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. Rebecca Greiner (born 13 June 1999) is an Australian field hockey player. Personal life Greiner was a student at St. Luke's Anglican College in Bundaberg, Queensland. Her favourite food is currently her mother's infamous 'Christmas Rumballs'. Greiner plays national hockey for her home state Queensland in the Australian Hockey League. In the 2018 AHL, Greiner was equal highest goalscorer. Mariah Williams (born 31 May 1995) is an Australian field hockey player. She represented her country at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Personal life Williams was born and raised in Parkes, New South Wales. She plays national representative hockey for her home state. She also featured as the a headline player for New South Wales in the launch of their new premier team, NSW Pride, which will compete in the inaugural Hockey One league in 2019. In 2017, Williams was honoured by her home town council after a new synthetic hockey pitch was named after her. Renee Taylor (born 28 September 1996) is an Australian field hockey player. Taylor was born in Everton Park, Queensland and made her senior international debut in a test series against China in April 2015. Goalkeeper (field Hockey)
Field hockey is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with ten outfield players and a goalkeeper. Teams must drive a round hockey ball by hitting it with a hockey stick towards the rival team's shooting circle and then into the goal. The match is won by the team that scores the most goals. Matches are played on grass, watered turf, artificial turf, synthetic field, or indoor boarded surface. The stick is made of wood, carbon fibre, fibreglass, or a combination of carbon fibre and fibreglass in different quantities. The stick has two sides; one rounded and one flat; only the flat face of the stick is allowed to progress the ball. During play, goalkeepers are the only players allowed to touch the ball with any part of their body. A player's hand is considered part of the stick if holding the stick. Jocelyn Bartram
Jocelyn Bartram (born 4 May 1993) is an Australian field hockey player. She plays as a goalkeeper for the Australian women's national field hockey team. Early life and education Jocelyn Bartram is from Albury–Wodonga ("The Border"), Australia. Bartram was an active child, playing field hockey, soccer, water polo, basketball and tennis during her youth. Her mother, father and brother also played hockey. Bartram commenced her studies focusing on Sports Science through Sydney's University of Technology. Jane Claxton (born 26 October 1992) is an Australian field hockey player for Australia. Claxton was a member of the Australia women's national field hockey team that were defeated by the Netherlands women's national field hockey team in the final of the 2014 Women's Hockey World Cup, a Gold Medal winner at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and member of the team that went to the 2016 Summer Olympics. Kaitlin Nobbs
Kaitlin Nobbs (born 24 September 1997) is an Australian field hockey player. She has played for the Australian national team, the Hockeyroos. Early life Nobbs is the daughter of Australian field hockey players Michael Nobbs and Lee Capes. Her father played in the 1984 Summer Olympics and coached the Indian men's team at the 2012 Summer Olympics, while her mother won the gold medal at the 1988 Summer Olympics.
