2022 UCI Road World Championships
The 2022 UCI Road World Championships will be held from 18 to 25 September 2022 in Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia. In February 2022 the UCI announced that a Women's U23 category will be added to the road and time trial race. The title will be awarded from within the elite women’s event and a separate race will be added from 2025 UCI Road World Championships, 2025. On March 1 AusCycling announced that Russian and Belarusian teams will not be allowed to compete based on International Olympic Committee's recommendation on 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Routes In March 2022, the routes for the championships were announced. The Elite Road races start in Helensburgh, New South Wales, Helensburgh, about 30km north of Wollongong before a 34km loop around Mount Keira (climb length of 8.7km, average gradient of 5%, maximum incline of 15%). Omer Shapira ( he, עומר שפירא; born 9 September 1994) is an Israeli racing cyclist, who rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . She is an eight-time national road champion; winning the Israeli National Time Trial Championships in 2020 and 2022, and the Israeli National Road Race Championships for six consecutive years between 2017 and 2022. Olga Sergeyevna Zabelinskaya (also transliterated Zabelinskaia; russian: Ольга Серге́евна Забелинская; born 10 May 1980) is a Russian-born Uzbekistani professional racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's Continental Team . While competing for Russia, she won three Olympic medals, before changing allegiances to Uzbekistan in 2018. Leah Kirchmann (born 30 June 1990) is a Canadian racing cyclist, who rides for National Cycling League team Denver Disruptors. She competed in the 2013 UCI women's road race in Florence. At the 2014 Global Relay Canadian Road Championships, held in Lac-Mégantic, Quebec, she won the road race, time trial and the criterium, becoming the first woman to win all three titles in the same year.
