2022 UCI Road World Championships
The 2022 UCI Road World Championships will be held from 18 to 25 September 2022 in Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia. In February 2022 the UCI announced that a Women's U23 category will be added to the road and time trial race. The title will be awarded from within the elite women’s event and a separate race will be added from 2025 UCI Road World Championships, 2025. On March 1 AusCycling announced that Russian and Belarusian teams will not be allowed to compete based on International Olympic Committee's recommendation on 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Routes In March 2022, the routes for the championships were announced. The Elite Road races start in Helensburgh, New South Wales, Helensburgh, about 30km north of Wollongong before a 34km loop around Mount Keira (climb length of 8.7km, average gradient of 5%, maximum incline of 15%). Elena Cecchini (born 25 May 1992) is an Italian racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . She competed in the 2013 UCI women's team time trial in Florence. Career Born in Friedrichshafen, Lippert started her career in local club ''RSV Seerose Friedrichshafen'' in 2008. Nikias Arndt (born 18 November 1991) is a German professional track and road cyclist, who rides for UCI WorldTeam . Career Arndt rode for between 2010 and 2012, before joining the team for the 2013 season. He achieved his first professional victory at the 2013 Arctic Race of Norway, winning the third stage, en route to finishing third overall behind Thor Hushovd and Kenny van Hummel. Georgia Baker (born 21 September 1994) is an Australian professional racing cyclist. She rode in the women's team pursuit at the 2016 UCI Track Cycling World Championships. Cycling career After taking a break from road racing in 2016 with the High5 Dream Team to focus on her Rio Olympics campaign, Orica-Scott announced signing Baker to race in the Women's World Tour team for 2017. In her first European race for the Orica-Scott team at the end of May, Baker was among the 90 non-finishers of 121 that started at Gooik–Geraardsbergen–Gooik. Baker in her second race on the opening stage at The Women's Tour at the start of June after a racing heart and sharp pains were felt in her chest and arm, exercising caution having lost her father to a heart attack in 2015, she withdrew from the race. Luke Durbridge (born 9 April 1991) is an Australian road and track cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Durbridge specialises in the individual time trial, road races, and various track cycling events. As well as winning the 2012 Australian National Time Trial Championships, Durbridge won both the time trial and the Australian National Road Race Championships in 2013. As a result, he became the first rider to win both titles in the same year at an elite level, Jonathan Hall had previously won both in 1997 but not at an elite level. Early career Durbridge was born in Greenmount, Western Australia, and started cycling at 14 years of age, competing in triathlons.
