2022 Tour Du Rwanda
The 2022 Tour du Rwanda was a road cycling stage race that took place from 20 and 27 February 2022 in Rwanda. The race was rated as a category 2.1 event on the 2022 UCI Africa Tour calendar, and was the 25th edition of the Tour du Rwanda. After the 2021 edition was postponed to early May due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the race returned to its usual late-February timeslot. Teams One of the 18 UCI WorldTeams, five UCI ProTeams, nine UCI Continental teams, and four national teams make up the 19 teams that participated in the race. Of these teams, 14 entered a full squad of five riders, while the other five teams (, , , , and ) entered four riders each. was also reduced to four riders with one late non-starter. In total, 89 riders started the race, of which 65 finished. 2022 UCI Africa Tour
The 2022 UCI Africa Tour was the 18th season of the UCI Africa Tour. The season began on 29 October 2021 with the Tour du Faso and ended on 8 October 2022. The points leader, based on the cumulative results of previous races, wears the UCI Africa Tour cycling jersey. Throughout the season, points are awarded to the top finishers of stages within stage races and the final general classification standings of each of the stages races and one-day events. The quality and complexity of a race also determines how many points are awarded to the top finishers: the higher the UCI rating of a race, the more points are awarded. ''The New Times'' is a national English language newspaper in Rwanda. It was established in 1995 shortly after the end of the 1994 genocide. The paper states that it is privately owned, with two shareholders. They also used to have a Kinyarwanda-language weekly called ''Izuba Rirashe''. ''The New Times'' is published in Kigali from Monday to Saturday, with its sister paper the ''Sunday Times'', appearing on Sundays. The ''New Times Online'' was launched in 2006. Alexandre Geniez
Alexandre Geniez (born 16 April 1988) is a French professional cyclist, who last rode for UCI ProTeam . In March 2022 Geniez was convicted of domestic violence charges and given a four month suspended prison sentence. On 31 May 2022 terminated his contract effective immediately. Career One of his prestigious feats was winning the white jersey awarded to the best young rider in the 2011 Tour de Luxembourg. Geniez left at the end of the 2012 season, and joined for the 2013 season. In April 2015, Geniez won the Tro Bro Leon, a race cycled on asphalt and sandy roads, outsprinting four breakaway companions to accomplish the feat. In August 2020, Geniez signed a two-year contract with the team, from the 2021 season. Individual Time Trial
An individual time trial (ITT) is a road bicycle race in which cyclists race alone against the clock (in French: ''contre la montre'' – literally "against the watch", in Italian: ''tappa a cronometro'' "stopwatch stage"). There are also track-based time trials where riders compete in velodromes, and team time trials (TTT). Kigali Arena
BK Arena (formerly known as Kigali Arena until 2022) is an multi-purpose indoor arena in Kigali, Rwanda, used mostly for basketball and volleyball matches. Built and finished in 2019, it hosts sporting events and concerts. It is the biggest indoor arena in East Africa and is located next to the Amahoro Stadium. The arena is regularly used for games of the Rwanda Basketball League (RBL). It was constructed by SUMMA, a Turkish international contractor.
