2022 Texas Longhorns Baseball Team
The 2022 Texas Longhorns baseball team represented the University of Texas at Austin during the 2022 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Longhorns played their home games at UFCU Disch–Falk Field as a member of the Big 12 Conference. They were led by head coach David Pierce, in his 6th season at Texas. Previous season Regular season The Longhorns finished the 2021 season with a 50–17 record and a 17–7 record in conference play where they were crowned Big 12 Regular season co-champions for the 9th time alongside TCU. This was the 24th time the Longhorns have won 50 plus games in a season and the first 50 win season for Texas since 2010. Postseason After the regular season, the Longhorns went 2–2 in the Big 12 Conference tournament. However, the Longhorns went on to win the Austin Regional by defeating Fairfield, and the Austin Super Regional defeating South Florida, sending them to College World Series. David Pierce (baseball)
David Pierce is an American baseball coach. He is currently the head coach at Texas Longhorns baseball, The University of Texas at Austin. Pierce was named head coach of the Longhorns on June 29, 2016. Assistant coaching history University of Houston Having coached at Rice in 1991 and then in the high school ranks, Pierce rejoined the collegiate coaching ranks at his alma mater, the University of Houston. As the Cougars hitting coach, he helped the team to two postseason tournaments. In 2002 – his second year as an assistant coach – Pierce helped UH reach a 2002 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament#Austin Super Regional, Super Regional. His hitters finished with almost 700 hits and a .310 team batting average, good for 5th in Cougar history. 2021 Tennessee Volunteers Baseball Team
The 2021 Tennessee Volunteers baseball team represented the University of Tennessee during the 2021 NCAA Division I baseball season. Tennessee competed in the Eastern Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The Volunteers play their home games at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. Coach Tony Vitello lead the Volunteers in his 4th season with the program. Tennessee reached the College World Series for the first time since 2005, but were eliminated in two games. The Volunteers finished the season with a 50–18 record. Previous season The 2020 Tennessee Volunteers baseball team notched a 15–2 (0–0) regular season record. An infielder is a baseball player stationed at one of four defensive "infield" positions on the baseball field. Standard arrangement of positions In a game of baseball, two teams of nine players take turns playing offensive and defensive roles.
