2022 Summit League Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2022 Summit League men's basketball tournament was the postseason men's basketball tournament for the Summit League for the 2021–22 season. All tournament games were played at the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, during March 5–8, 2022. Top-seeded South Dakota State defeated second-seeded North Dakota State, 75–69, to claim their first title in four years as well as the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Seeds The top eight teams by conference record in the Summit League will compete in the conference tournament. St. Thomas was not eligible, due to its transition from Division III. Teams are seeded by record within the conference, with a tiebreaker system to seed teams with identical conference records. The tiebreakers operate in the following order: # Head-to-head record. # Record against the top-seeded team not involved in the tie, going down through the standings until the tie is broken. Denny Sanford Premier Center
The Denny Sanford Premier Center is an indoor arena in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The building is located at 1201 North West Avenue, and is connected to the Sioux Falls Arena and Sioux Falls Convention Center. The Arena's naming rights partners, and largest sponsors, are Sanford Health, First Premier Bank and Premier Bankcard. Completed in 2014, the arena has a seating capacity of approximately 12,000 spectators and replaces the DakotaDome and Rushmore Plaza Civic Center as the largest indoor venue in South Dakota. 2021–22 Kansas City Roos Men's Basketball Team
The 2021–22 Kansas City Roos men's basketball team represented the University of Missouri–Kansas City during the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Roos, led by third-year head coach Billy Donlon, played their home games on-campus at Swinney Recreation Center in Kansas City, Missouri as a returning member of the Summit League. The Roos finished the season 19–12 overall, 12–6 in Summit League play, to finish in a tie for third place. They were defeated by South Dakota in the Summit League tournament quarterfinal round. The Summit League men's basketball tournament, popularly known as The Summit League at the Falls, is the post-season tournament for NCAA Division I conference Summit League. The winner of the tournament receives the Summit League's automatic bid into the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship. The tournament was first played in 1984, when the league was known as the Association of Mid-Continent Universities (AMCU). The league was also known as the Mid-Continent Conference from 1989 to 2007, after which it was renamed to The Summit League. The 2021–22 Summit League Conference men's basketball season started non-conference play on November 9, 2021, and began conference play on December 20, 2021. The regular season ended on February 26, 2022, setting up the 2022 Summit League men's basketball tournament from March 5 to March 8. South Dakota State was the regular season champion, finishing with a perfect 18-0 conference record for the first time in conference and team history. The Jacks would go on to win the Summit League tournament as well, beating North Dakota State to reach their first NCAA tournament berth in four years.
