2022 Serbian Parliamentary Election
General elections were held in Serbia on 3 April 2022 to elect both the president and members of the National Assembly. Initially, parliamentary elections were scheduled to be held in 2024; however, in October 2020 president Aleksandar Vučić stated that snap parliamentary elections would be held in or before April 2022. In addition to the general elections, local elections were held simultaneously in 12 municipalities and 2 cities, including Belgrade. The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) came to power in 2012 after forming a government with the Socialist Party of Serbia. They won a supermajority of seats following the 2020 parliamentary election, which was boycotted by the major opposition Alliance for Serbia that claimed that "the election would not be free and fair". Percentage Point
A percentage point or percent point is the unit (measurement), unit for the Difference (mathematics), arithmetic difference between two percentages. For example, moving up from 40 percent to 44 percent is an increase of 4 percentage points, but a 10-percent increase in the quantity being measured. István Pásztor (politician)
István Pásztor (; sr, Иштван Пастор, Ištvan Pastor; born 20 August 1956) is a Serbian politician who has been the president of the Assembly of Vojvodina since 2012. An ethnic Hungarian, he has led the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians since 2008. He graduated from the University of Novi Sad Faculty of Law. Currently, Pásztor is the chairman of the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians and president of the Assembly of Vojvodina. He was formerly a leader of the Hungarian Coalition, which also included two other ethnic Hungarian political parties in Serbia. Pásztor was the candidate of the Hungarian Coalition in the 2008 Serbian presidential election. Municipalities And Cities Of Serbia
The municipalities and cities ( sr, општине и градови, opštine i gradovi) are the second level administrative subdivisions of Serbia. The country is divided into 145 municipalities ( sr-Latn, opštine, singular: ; 38 in Southern and Eastern Serbia, 42 in Šumadija and Western Serbia, 37 in Vojvodina and 28 in Kosovo and Metohija) and 29 cities (Serbian Latin: , singular: ; 9 in Southern and Eastern Serbia, 10 in Šumadija and Western Serbia, 8 in Vojvodina and one in Kosovo and Metohija), forming the basic level of local government. 2022 Serbian Local Elections
Local elections in Serbia were held on 3 April 2022 in the municipalities of Aranđelovac, Bajina Bašta, Belgrade, Bor, Doljevac, Kladovo, Knjaževac, Kula, Lučani, Majdanpek, Medveđa, Sečanj, Sevojno, and Smederevska Palanka. Alongside the local elections, national-level general elections were held simultaneously on the same day. The ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) won the most amount of votes in every municipality. Non-governmental organizations and opposition parties have claimed that electoral irregularities took place at voting stations. In Kula, a citizens group claimed that that two ballot lists were submitted in an illegal way, and that bribery took place during the collection of signatures. Ana Brnabić
Ana Brnabić ( sr-cyr, Ана Брнабић, ; born 28 September 1975) is a Serbian politician serving as the prime minister of Serbia since 2017. She is the first woman and first openly gay person to hold the office. She entered government as the minister of public administration and local self-government from 11 August 2016 until 29 June 2017, under Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić and Acting Prime Minister Ivica Dačić. Sulejman Ugljanin (; sr-cyrl, Сулејман Угљанин; born 20 November 1953) is a Serbian politician. An ethnic Bosniak, he has led the Party of Democratic Action of Sandžak since its establishment in 1990. Ugljanin was previously the president of the Bosniak National Council and a deputy in the National Assembly. He was the Mayor of Novi Pazar, and the former Minister without portfolio in the Government of Serbia between 2008 and 2014.
