2022 RAN Women's 12s
The 2022 RAN Women’s 12s was the first edition of the 12-a-side rugby union tournament. It took place over two days on 15 and 16 July 2022 in Kingston, Jamaica at the University of the West Indies and included six teams. The format for 2022 changed from a rugby tens competition to a 12-a-side. The tournament is used as a development tool for the women’s game, with the aim of a Women’s 15-a-side international competition for the region. USA South Panthers won the tournament after beating, runners-up, Jamaica in the final. Teams Teams are seeded based on the results of the 2019 RAN Women's 10s. Format On Day 1, teams were divided into two pools of three according to their seeding, with a total of six matches played. 2023 RAN Women's Rugby Championship
The 2023 RAN Women's Rugby Championship saw the return of women's fifteen-a-side rugby to the region. The tournament is expected to be held from July 12 to 16 in Kingston, Jamaica, at the University of the West Indies. Five teams competed in the tournament, they faced each other in a round-robin competition of 20-minute halves. Rugby tens, also known as ten-a-side and Xs, is a variant of rugby union in which teams are made up of ten players, typically five forwards and five backs. Matches are much shorter, usually played as two ten-minute halves. Unlike the other two major rugby union variants - sevens and beach rugby - which were invented in major rugby nations, rugby tens was developed in Malaysia, a nation that has never qualified for the Rugby World Cup. USA Rugby South
USA Rugby South is an organization that combines a number of unions in the south-east of the USA for competition and representative honours. Their representative team is known as the Panthers. Originally formed as Southern Eastern Rugby Union in 1976, this representative team played against the North Eastern Rugby Union between 1976 and 1982. USA Rugby South organizes inter-union competitions between champion teams from each geographical union, who go on to represent USA Rugby South at national competitions. Since 2013, the USA Rugby South Panthers have competed in the NACRA Rugby Championship and were crowned champions in their first year, beating Trinidad and Tobago in the final.
