The 2022 Philadelphia Stars season is the ongoing first season for the Philadelphia Stars as a professional American football franchise. They play as charter members of the United States Football League, one of eight teams to compete in the league for the 2022 season. The Stars technically play as a traveling team (since the entirety of the regular season will be played at Protective Stadium and Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama) and are led by head coach Bart Andrus. Personnel Roster The Stars, like all other teams, have a 38-man active roster with a 7-man practice squad. Staff Schedule The Stars' 2022 schedule was announced on March 7. Bart Andrus
Bart Andrus (born March 30, 1958) is an American football coach and a former collegiate player who is the head coach and general manager for the Philadelphia Stars of the United States Football League (USFL). He has served as head coach for the Amsterdam Admirals of the NFL Europe League (NFLEL) from 2001 to 2007, the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League (CFL) in 2009, and the Omaha Nighthawks of the United Football League (UFL) in 2012 compiling a career record of 40 wins and 54 losses. Andrus also was the head football coach at Rocky Mountain College in 1996, posting a mark of 6–4. He also served as head coach of the Generals of The Spring League. Martin Bayless
Martin Ashley Bayless (born October 11, 1962) is a former American football cornerback/safety and American football coach who is the special teams coordinator and defensive backs coach for the Philadelphia Stars of the United States Football League (USFL). He played 13 seasons in the National Football League (NFL) and played college football at Bowling Green State University. He holds the record for most career interceptions in NCAA history with 27. After retiring from the NFL in 1998, he joined the Buffalo Bills as a Front Office Executive in 2000. He transitioned into coaching in the college ranks, and he has since held jobs with several professional football organizations. In 2018, Bayless became the assistant special teams coordinator and secondary coach for the Birmingham Iron of the Alliance of American Football. The 2022 Pittsburgh Maulers season was the first season for the Pittsburgh Maulers as a professional American football franchise, as well as the only one under head coach Kirby Wilson. They played as charter members of the United States Football League, one of eight teams to compete in the league for the 2022 season. The Maulers technically played as a traveling team (since the entirety of the regular season was played at Protective Stadium and Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama).
