2022 Minnesota State Auditor Election
The 2022 Minnesota State Auditor election was held on November 8, 2022, to elect the state auditor of the U.S. state of Minnesota. Incumbent DFLer Julie Blaha won re-election to a second term. Blaha was challenged by Republican candidate Ryan Wilson, Grassroot-Legalize Cannabis Party candidate Will Finn, and Legal Marijuana Now Party candidate Tim Davis. This election was the second-closest for Minnesota State Auditor ever, after 1934. Julie Blaha
Julie Blaha is an American politician and retired educator serving as the 19th state auditor of Minnesota since 2019. She is a member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party. Before her election as auditor, Blaha served as secretary-treasurer of the Minnesota AFL–CIO, a federation of local trade unions. Biography Born in Burns Township, Minnesota (now the city of Nowthen), Blaha earned a Bachelor of Science from St. Cloud State University and a Master of Education (MEd) from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota. She worked as a middle school math teacher and secretary-treasurer of the Minnesota AFL–CIO. In the 2018 elections, Blaha ran for Minnesota state auditor and defeated Republican Pam Myhra in the general election. She was sworn into office on January 7, 2019. 2018 Minnesota Gubernatorial Election
The 2018 Minnesota gubernatorial election took place on November 6, to elect the 41st Governor of Minnesota as incumbent Democratic governor Mark Dayton chose not to run for re-election for a third term. The Democratic nominee was congressman Tim Walz from Minnesota's 1st congressional district while the Republicans nominated Hennepin County commissioner Jeff Johnson. The Independence Party of Minnesota didn't field a candidate for the first time since 1994. Going into the election the polls showed Walz ahead and the race was characterized as lean or likely DFL. In the end, Walz went on to defeat Johnson by the largest margin for a DFL candidate since 1986. Walz had also received more votes than any gubernatorial candidate in Minnesota's history.
