2022 LCK Season
The 2022 LCK season was the eleventh season of South Korea's LCK, a professional esports league for the MOBA PC game ''League of Legends''. The regular season format was double round robin. The games were played five days per week for both round robins. The spring split began on 12 January and finished on 20 March, immediately followed by the spring playoffs, which concluded with the spring finals, where T1 defeated Gen.G with a match score of 3–1 on 2 April. T1 represented the LCK in the 2022 Mid-Season Invitational, losing out to defending champions Royal Never Give Up 3–2 in the finals. League Of Legends Champions Korea
''League of Legends'' Champions Korea (LCK) is the primary competition for ''League of Legends'' esports in South Korea. Contested by ten teams, the league runs two seasons per year and serves as a direct route to qualification for the annual ''League of Legends'' World Championship. The LCK is administered in cooperation between Riot Games and KeSPA. The league was formerly named ''League of Legends'' Champions before undergoing a major restructuring in late 2014, which saw a change in the competition's format and a rebranding to its current name. OGN reserved exclusive broadcasting rights of the league until 2016 when rights were split with SPOTV Games. In 2019, Riot Games took over the broadcasting of LCK. In 2021 the LCK franchised, and Challengers Korea (CK) and the LCK promotion tournament were discontinued. ''League of Legends'' (''LoL''), commonly referred to as ''League'', is a 2009 multiplayer online battle arena video game developed and published by Riot Games. Multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) is a subgenre of strategy video games in which two teams of players compete against each other on a predefined battlefield. Each player controls a single character with a set of distinctive abilities that improve over the course of a game and which contribute to the team's overall strategy. The typical ultimate objective is for each team to destroy their opponents' main structure, located at the opposite corner of the battlefield. In some MOBA games, the objective can be defeating every player on the enemy team. T1 (previously known as SK Telecom T1 or SKT T1) is a South Korean esports organization operated by the T1 Entertainment & Sports, a joint venture between SK Telecom and Comcast Spectacor. 2022 Mid-Season Invitational
The 2022 Mid-Season Invitational was the seventh Mid-Season Invitational (MSI), a Riot Gamesorganised tournament for ''League of Legends'', a multiplayer online battle arena video game. The tournament was the culmination of the 2022 Spring Split and the first interregional competition of Season 12. 11 of the 12 premier ''League of Legends'' leagues had a team representing them; the LCL was not participating due to the Spring Split being cancelled as a result of the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. The competition continued the same format that was introduced during MSI 2021. The minimum prize pool was 250,000. Royal Never Give Up
Royal Never Give Up (RNG) is a Chinese esports organization whose ''League of Legends'' team competes in the League of Legends Pro League. It was established in May 2015. RNG won the 2016 LPL Spring Playoffs, 2018 LPL Spring Playoffs and 2018 LPL Summer Playoffs, and is the champion of the 2018, 2021, and 2022 Mid-Season Invitational. Its sister team is Royal Club. Lee Sang-hyeok ( ko, 이상혁; born May 7, 1996), better known as Faker ( ko, 페이커, rr=Peikeo, links=no), is a South Korean professional ''League of Legends'' player for T1. Formerly known as GoJeonPa ( ko, 고전파, links=no) on the Korean server, he was picked up by T1, then called SK Telecom T1, in 2013 and has played as the team's mid laner since. Lee Min-hyeong ( ko, 이민형), better known as Gumayusi ( ko, 구마유시), is a South Korean professional ''League of Legends'' player for T1. He made his LCK debut in the Korea Regional Finals 2020. He was a trainee of T1 before being promoted to the team. Early life He was born in South Korea on February 6, 2002.
