2022 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Final
The 2022 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Final was the final match of the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Costa Rica. The match was played at the Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica (2011), Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica, San José, Costa Rica, San José on 28 August 2022 and was contested by Spain women's national under-20 football team, Spain and Japan women's national under-20 football team, Japan. For the first time ever, the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Final was a repeat of the previous edition's Final, as Japan had beaten Spain to win their first title on 2018 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, 2018 by a 3–1 scoreline. However, things were different on 2022. Spain won the 2022 Final after defeating Japan by a 3–1 win after 90 minutes of action, now with the 3–1 score being on their favour, bouncing back from the previous edition. The 2022 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup ( es, Copa Mundial Femenina Sub-20 de la FIFA Costa Rica 2022, link=no) was the 10th edition of the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, the biennial international women's youth football championship contested by the under-20 national teams of the member associations of FIFA, since its inception in 2002 as the FIFA U-19 Women's World Championship (the age limit was raised from 19 to 20 in 2008). The tournament was held in Costa Rica, which would have hosted the 2020 edition before it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was the second time that Costa Rica host a FIFA tournament after the 2014 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup. Japan were the defending champions. The opening match played at the tournament was contested between Costa Rica and Australia at Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica, San José.
