The 2022 European Athletics Championships were the 25th edition of the European Athletics Championships and were held in Munich, Germany, from 15 to 21 August 2022. The European Athletics Championships is a biennial event (since 2010), which began in 1934. European Athletics accepts only athletes who are representing one of the organisation's European member states and the body recognises records set at editions of the European Athletics Championships. The Championships records in athletics are the best marks set in competitions at the event. Azeddine Habz (born 19 July 1993) is a French middle- and long-distance runner. He won the bronze medal in the 1500 metres at the 2023 European Indoor Championships. Personal life Habz was brought up in Morocco before relocating to France in 2012. He received French citizenship and began representing France in August 2018. He studied sociology at the University of Paris. Career In October 2018, Habz became the French half marathon champion. On 29 February 2020, he won the 3000 metres at the French Indoor Championships in a time of 7:57.20. Neil Gourley (born 7 February 1995) is a Scottish middle-distance runner specialising in the 1500 metres. He won the silver medal in the event at the 2023 European Indoor Championships and bronze at the 2015 European Under-23 Championships. Pietro Arese (born 8 October 1999) is an Italian middle-distance runner. No kinship with the middle-distance runner Franco Arese, former European champion and former president of the Italian Athletics Federation (FIDAL).
