2022 Euro Hockey League Women
The 2022 Women's Euro Hockey League was the second edition of the Women's Euro Hockey League, Europe's premier women's club field hockey tournament, organized by the European Hockey Federation. It was contested alongside the 2022 Euro Hockey League, men's tournament at the Wagener Stadium in Amstelveen, Netherlands from 15 to 18 April 2022. HC 's-Hertogenbosch, Den Bosch, who entered the event as the defending champions, reached the finals, where they were defeated 3–2 by Amsterdamsche Hockey & Bandy Club, Amsterdam in a shoot-out after the match finished 2–2 in regular time. Junior won their first EHL medal by defeating La Gantoise HC, Gantoise 2–1 in the bronze medal match. Amstelveen
Amstelveen () is a municipality in the province of North Holland, Netherlands with a population of 92.353 as of 2022. It is a suburban part of the Amsterdam metropolitan area. Surbiton Hockey Club is a field hockey club based in Long Ditton, Surrey, England. The club is one of the oldest hockey clubs in the world, being established in 1874. The home ground is based in Long Ditton, at Sugden Road. The club is currently the leading club in England with the women's team winning the league for eight years in succession and the men's team winning the three of the last four league titles. Lidewij Welten (born 16 July 1990) is a Dutch field hockey player. Welten is part of the Dutch national team in the youth and is seen as one of the most promising talents in the world. Michelle Meister
Michelle Meister (born 1978) is a German field hockey umpire. She was the 2018 FIH Umpire of the Year and was one of the two first women to umpire at the Euro Hockey League. She umpires for the Köpenicker Hockey-Union in Berlin. Umpiring career Meister previously played hockey for 20 years, from the age of 7, until she had to quit because of a herniated disc. She started umpiring in 2005 and umpired her first match in the German national league in 2007. She has since umpired almost 300 matches in this league. A penalty shootout is a method used in field hockey to decide which team progresses to the next stage of a tournament (or wins the tournament) following a tied game. Two methods have been used: the original penalty stroke competition is a best-of-five penalty strokes with sudden death if scores were level after five strokes. An alternate penalty shoot-out competition was introduced at major tournaments in 2011.
