2022 English Cricket Season
The 2022 English cricket season began on 7 April 2022 and finished on 29 September 2022. It was the 122nd season in which the County Championship has been an official competition and features First-Class, List-A and Twenty20 cricket competitions throughout England and Wales. The 18 first-class counties competed in the 2022 County Championship, One-Day Cup, and T20 Blast competitions, whilst women's teams competed for the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy and the Charlotte Edwards Cup. The season also saw the second edition of The Hundred, for both men and women. In January 2022, the ECB announced that the Bob Willis Trophy, which was played to end the County Championship in 2020 and 2021, would not be played in 2022; managing director of county cricket Neil Snowball said that the ECB was discussing the future format of the trophy with Willis's family. 2022 County Championship
The 2022 County Championship (referred to as the LV= Insurance County Championship for sponsorship reasons) was the 122nd cricket County Championship season in England and Wales. The season began on 7 April and ended on 29 September 2022. Warwickshire were the defending champions. In October 2021, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced that the tournament would return to the format of two divisions, with ten teams in Division One, and eight teams in Division Two. The teams were placed into the division they qualified for following the 2019 County Championship, after the 2020 season was completely cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In January 2022, the ECB confirmed all the fixtures for the tournament, with the Bob Willis Trophy being scrapped. Grace Elizabeth Scrivens (born 10 November 2003) is an English cricketer who currently plays for Kent, Sunrisers and London Spirit. An all-rounder, she is a left-handed batter and right-arm off break bowler. Early life Scrivens was born on 10 November 2003 in Kent. Domestic career Scrivens made her county debut in 2018, for Kent against Surrey. In her second match, she hit 24 * from 17 balls in a Twenty20 against Yorkshire to help her side to a 5 wicket victory. Amanda-Jade Wellington
Amanda-Jade Wellington (born 29 May 1997) is an Australian cricketer. She bowls right-arm leg spin and plays for the South Australian Scorpions in the Women's National Cricket League (WNCL) and the Adelaide Strikers in the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL). Dawid Johannes Malan ( ; born 3 September 1987) is an English cricketer who plays internationally for England in all formats. In domestic cricket, he represents Yorkshire, having previously played for Middlesex, and has played in multiple Twenty20 leagues, including for Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League. Laura Wolvaardt (born 26 April 1999) is a South African cricketer who currently plays for Western Province, Adelaide Strikers, Gujarat Giants and South Africa. 2022 Season Of The Hundred
The 2022 season of The Hundred will be the second season of The Hundred, a professional franchise 100-ball cricket tournament involving eight men's and women's teams located in major cities across England and Wales. The competition will return after its first season, which was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and faced strong opposition from traditional cricket fans. Despite this more than 500,000 tickets were sold for the first year of the competition and the contest was seen as a major boost for the women's game. The Hundred's organisers hope that more overseas players will be able to take part in this second season due to the relaxation of lockdown restrictions as the pandemic recedes. Katie Ann Levick (born 17 July 1991) is an English cricketer who has played for Yorkshire, Yorkshire Diamonds, Northern Diamonds and Northern Superchargers. She is a leg spin bowler, and is the leading wicket taker in Women's County Championship cricket. Personal life Levick is from Sheffield. Levick studied at Sheffield Hallam University, graduating in 2012. She later worked as a teacher, and as of 2020, she was a marketing manager for Yorkshire CCC's coaching department. Career Levick played club cricket for Upper Haugh Cricket Club in Rotherham, alongside her brother. The club had no girls team, so she played on the boys team. At the age of 16, Levick debuted for Yorkshire Women. She has taken 190 wickets in the Women's County Championship, more than any other player. Amy Ellen Jones is an English cricketer who plays as a wicket-keeper and right-handed batter for Warwickshire, Central Sparks, Birmingham Phoenix and England.
