2022 Empress's Cup
The 2022 Empress's Cup is the 44th season of the Japanese women's association football, women's football main cup competition. All the non-relegated teams from the 1st and 2nd division of the 2021 Nadeshiko League (except for Tsukuba FC Ladies, Tsukuba FC) automatically qualified to the first and second round (allocated to Nadeshiko League Top 3), while all 11 teams from the 2022–23 WE League season, 2022–23 WE League earned an automatic entry to the Round of 16. Empress's Cup
, since 2018 renamed "Empress's Cup JFA Japan Women's Football Championship" ( ja, 皇后杯 JFA 全日本女子サッカー選手権大会) or The Empress's Cup, is a Japanese Women's football competition. As an elimination tournament, it can be considered the female counterpart to the men's Emperor's Cup. The name "Empress's Cup" has been used since the 2012 season as the Empress's Cup trophy was founded in that year. From 2004 to 2011 season (New Year's Day of 2005 to 2012), the final was played on New Year's Day at the National Olympic Stadium in Tokyo before the Emperor's Cup final, and was regarded as the traditional closing match of the season. , colloquially Urawa Reds (浦和レッズ), also known as Mitsubishi Urawa Football Club from April 1992 to January 1996, is a professional football club in the city of Saitama, part of the Greater Tokyo Area in Japan. Omiya Ardija
is a professional association football club based in Ōmiya in Saitama, Japan. Its "hometown" as designated by the league is the whole of Saitama city, which is shared with neighbours Urawa Red Diamonds.
