The 2022 Eastern Washington Eagles football team represented Eastern Washington University as a member of the Big Sky Conference during the 2022 NCAA Division I FCS football season. Big Sky Conference
The Big Sky Conference (BSC) is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with the NCAA's Division I with football competing in the Football Championship Subdivision. Member institutions are located in the western United States in the eight states of Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah, and Washington. Four affiliate members each participate in one sport: two from California are football–only participants and two from the Northeast participate only in men's golf. The William H. Kibbie-ASUI Activity Center (commonly known as the Kibbie Dome) is a multi-purpose indoor athletic stadium in the northwest United States, on the campus of the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho. It is the home of the Idaho Vandals of the Big Sky Conference for four sports (football, tennis, indoor track and field, soccer). Basketball was played in the venue until the autumn 2021 opening of the adjacent Idaho Central Credit Union Arena (ICCU Arena). The Kibbie Dome opened as an outdoor concrete football stadium in October 1971, built on the same site of the demolished wooden Neale Stadium. 2022 Idaho Vandals Football Team
The 2022 Idaho Vandals football team represented the University of Idaho in the Big Sky Conference during the 2022 NCAA Division I FCS football season. Led by first-year head coach Jason Eck, the Vandals were 7–4 in the regular season (6–2 in Big Sky, third) and played their home games on campus at the Kibbie Dome in Moscow, Idaho. It was the program's first winning season in six years. Idaho defeated rival Montana for the first time since 1999 and made their twelfth appearance in the FCS playoffs, the first since 1995 (the program was in FBS from 1996 through 2017). The Dam Cup
The Dam Cup is an American college football rivalry in the Pacific Northwest between the Eastern Washington Eagles and the Portland State Vikings. Both are members of the Big Sky Conference in the Football Championship Subdivision of NCAA Division I. The Dam Cup began in 2010 as a multi-sport competition between the two schools. It refers to the Columbia River watershed and its dams in a double entendre. The EWU campus is upstream in Cheney, southwest of Spokane, while Portland is the major city on the river. The football teams first played in 1968 and have been conference rivals in the Big Sky since Portland State joined in 1996. 2022 Sacramento State Hornets Football Team
The 2022 Sacramento State Hornets football team represented California State University, Sacramento as a member of the Big Sky Conference during the 2022 NCAA Division I FCS football season. They were led by third-year head coach Troy Taylor and played their home games at Hornet Stadium. This season set multiple milestones for the team. They beat an FBS team for the first time since 2012 and the first time under Troy Taylor with a 41–10 victory over Colorado State. Originally Wildcat Stadium, it was renamed in 1998 for Stewart (1905–1996), a notable campus and community benefactor. Used primarily for football, the 17,312-seat venue is the home of the Weber State Wildcats of the Big Sky Conference. It was expanded in 1966 with the construction of the primary grandstand along the northwest sideline, nearly doubling its capacity.
