2021–22 Youngstown State Penguins Men's Basketball Team
The 2021–22 Youngstown State Penguins men's basketball team represents Youngstown State University in the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Penguins, led by fifth-year head coach Jerrod Calhoun, played their home games at the Beeghly Center in Youngstown, Ohio as members of the Horizon League. they finished the regular season 18–14, 12–9 in Horizon League play, to finish in seventh place. They lost to Robert Morris in the first round of the Horizon League tournament. The Penguins accepted an invitation to play in The Basketball Classic tournament, formerly known as the CollegeInsider.com Tournament. Previous season In a season limited due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Penguins finished the 2020–21 season 15–12, 9–11 in Horizon League play, to finish in sixth place. Jerrod Calhoun
Jerrod Frank Calhoun (born October 17, 1981) is an American college basketball coach who is currently the head coach for the Youngstown State Penguins men's basketball team. Playing career A standout basketball player at Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School in Cleveland, Cleveland, Ohio, Calhoun attended Cleveland State University and played two seasons under Rollie Massimino. He moved on to Cincinnati Bearcats men's basketball, Cincinnati and acted as a student assistant under Bob Huggins until his graduation in 2004. Coaching career Calhoun's first job post graduation was as an assistant at Walsh University where he was part of the Cavaliers' NAIA national championship squad in 2005. In 2007, Calhoun rejoined Huggins at West Virginia Mountaineers men's basketball, West Virginia as director of basketball operations, while being elevated to assistant coach for one season. Alliance is a city in eastern Stark County, Ohio, United States. Dayton Flyers Men's Basketball
The Dayton Flyers men's basketball team is a college basketball program that competes in NCAA Division I and the Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) representing the University of Dayton in Ohio. The Chowan Hawks are the athletic teams that represent Chowan University, located in Murfreesboro, North Carolina, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports.
