2021–22 Wichita State Shockers Men's Basketball Team
The 2021–22 Wichita State Shockers men's basketball team represented Wichita State University in the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Shockers, led by second year head coach Isaac Brown, played their home games at Charles Koch Arena in Wichita, Kansas as members of the American Athletic Conference. Previous season In a season limited due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Shockers finished the 2020–21 season 16–6, 11–2 in AAC play to win the regular season championship. On February 26, 2021 then interim coach Isaac Brown was named permanent head coach, agreeing to a five-year deal. In the AAC tournament, they defeated South Florida before losing to Cincinnati in the semifinals. Isaac Brown (basketball)
Isaac Leon Brown (born May 7, 1969) is an American college basketball coach who was most recently the head coach at Wichita State. Playing career Brown is a native of Pascagoula, Mississippi. He played basketball at Pascagoula High School and helped the team reach the state championship game in 1988. Brown played at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College from 1988 to 1990. He played one season at Texas A&M, averaging 12 points and 2.3 rebounds per game while starting 17 games, but was dismissed in February 1991 by coach Kermit Davis. Brown decided to transfer to Northeast Louisiana. After sitting out a season, he helped Northeast Louisiana capture the 1993 Southland Conference title with a 17–1 record, finish 27–4 overall and receive a berth in the NCAA Tournament. Alterique Lamont Gilbert (born October 6, 1997) is an American professional basketball player for BC Kalev/Cramo of the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League. He previously played for the UConn Huskies and the Wichita State Shockers. Early life Gilbert is originally from Richmond, Virginia but moved to Lithonia, Georgia as he entered his teenage years. He was raised by his mother, Tamonica Alexander, and was not acquainted with his father, Alcuero Gilbert, who was incarcerated for about 10 years. WJHL-TV (channel 11) is a television station licensed to Johnson City, Tennessee, United States, serving the Tri-Cities area as an affiliate of CBS and ABC.
