2021–22 West Virginia Mountaineers Women's Basketball Team
The 2021–22 West Virginia Mountaineers women's basketball team represented West Virginia University during the 2021–22 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Mountaineers were coached by twenty first-year head coach Mike Carey, played their home games at WVU Coliseum and were members of the Big 12 Conference. They finished the season 15–15 overall and, 7–11 in Big 12 play to finish in seventh place. As the seventh seed in the Big 12 Tournament, they defeated TCU in the First Round before losing to Iowa State in the Second Round. They were not invited to the NCAA tournament or the WNIT. Previous season The Mountaineers finished the season 22–7, 13–5 in Big 12 play to finish in a tie for second place. Mike Carey (basketball)
Michael Alan Carey (born July 4, 1958) is the former head coach of the West Virginia University women's basketball team. He had previously served as head basketball coach for the Salem International University men's basketball team. Carey played basketball for Salem International University, earning a letter in each of his four years at the school. In his freshman year, he was named the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference freshman of the year, an honor his son would win in 2006. Lake Taylor High School
Lake Taylor High School is a public high school located in Norfolk, Virginia and is the "Home of the Mighty Titans". It is administered by Norfolk City Public Schools. The school colors are red and black and its mascot is the Titans. Lake Taylor High is also the home to a NJROTC program and is called The Academy of Leadership and Military Science. The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets women's basketball team represents the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in NCAA Division I basketball. The team plays its home games at McCamish Pavilion.
