2021–22 Orlando Magic Season
The 2021–22 Orlando Magic season was the 33rd season of the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA). This was the first season since 2018 that Steve Clifford did not coach the Magic, after agreeing to part ways on June 5. On July 11, 2021 Jamahl Mosley was hired as the new head coach. On March 12, 2022, the Magic were eliminated from playoff contention, making it the second consecutive season that they did not make the playoffs. Draft picks In the 2021 NBA draft, the Magic selected Jalen Suggs from Gonzaga University with the fifth pick. The team also selected Franz Wagner from the University of Michigan with the eighth pick, and Jason Preston from Ohio University with the thirty-third pick. The draft rights to Preston was later traded to the Los Angeles Clippers. Jamahl Mosley
Jamahl Mosley (born October 6, 1978) is an American professional basketball coach and former player who is the head coach of the Orlando Magic of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Colorado Buffaloes and professionally for four seasons overseas. Mosley began his coaching career in 2005 as a player development coach for the Denver Nuggets. He was promoted to assistant coach in 2007 and served in the same capacity for the Cleveland Cavaliers and Dallas Mavericks. After seven years with the Mavericks, Mosley was hired as head coach for the Orlando Magic in 2021. Playing career Mosley played college basketball for the Colorado Buffaloes and was a third-team All-Big 12 selection in 2000. Bruce Kreutzer
Bruce Kreutzer is an American basketball coach and former player, currently working as an assistant coach for the Charlotte Hornets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Coaching career Kreutzer served as an assistant coach at Queens University – reaching the NCAA Division II Final Four in 2003 – and UNC Charlotte. He also has been head coach at Garinger High School where he won the 4A Boys State High School title in 1989 and then served as head coach at Massanutten Military Academy (Woodstock, Virginia), leading his team to a No. 9 ranking nationally in 2006 and developing more than 20 NCAA Division I college players during his tenure. Lionel Chalmers
Lionel Chalmers, Jr. (born November 10, 1980) is an American former professional basketball player who currently works as an assistant coach for the Orlando Magic of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is 6'0" (1.83 m) in height and played at the point guard position. Amateur career Chalmers played his first three years of high school basketball at Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons in Schenectady, New York. He then transferred to Albany High School (Albany, New York), Albany High School for his senior year. Chalmers attended Xavier Musketeers men's basketball, Xavier University, where he played college basketball for four years as an undergraduate and later as a graduate student. Bret Brielmaier
Bret Brielmaier (born November 28, 1985) is an American professional basketball coach who currently is an assistant coach for the Orlando Magic of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was raised in Mankato, Minnesota, and attended Loyola Catholic School. Brielmaier played college basketball for the Arizona Wildcats from 2004 to 2008 in primarily a reserve role. He began his coaching career as an undergraduate assistant for interim Wildcats head coach Russ Pennell during the 2008–09 season. Brielmaier joined the San Antonio Spurs of the NBA as a workout coach in 2009 and was promoted to a video coordinator in 2010. He joined the Cleveland Cavaliers as an assistant coach in 2013 and won an NBA championship with the Cavaliers in 2016.
