2021–22 Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers Men's Basketball Team
The 2021–22 Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers men's basketball team represented Mount St. Mary's University in the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Mountaineers, led by fourth-year head coach Dan Engelstad, played their home games at Knott Arena in Emmitsburg, Maryland as members of the Northeast Conference. On May 2, 2022, it was announced that the Mountaineers will join the MAAC on July 1, 2022, leaving the NEC where they had been members since 1989. Previous season In a season limited due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Mountaineers finished the 2020–21 season 12–11, 9–7 in NEC play to finish in fourth place. In the NEC tournament, they defeated Wagner in the semifinals and Bryant in the championship game. Dan Engelstad
Daniel Engelstad (born October 11, 1984) is an American college basketball coach who is currently an assistant coach at Syracuse University. Prior to that, he was the head coach of the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers men's basketball team. Playing career Engelstad played college basketball at Division III St. Mary's College of Maryland, where he graduated as the school's all-time leader in assists. Coaching career Upon graduation, Engelstad joined Milan Brown's staff at Mount St. Mary's where he was on staff for the Mountaineers' 2008 NCAA tournament team. He followed Brown as an assistant coach at Holy Cross in 2010, where he stayed until 2013 when he accepted the head coaching position at Southern Vermont. Inheriting a program that was 1–24 before he took over, Engelstad led the Mountaineers to a 16–10 overall record, including wins over a nationally ranked Williams featuring Duncan Robinson. Yates High School
Jack Yates Senior High School is a public high school located at 3650 Alabama Street, very near Texas Southern University, in the historic Third Ward in Houston, Texas. Yates High School handles grades nine through twelve and is part of the Houston Independent School District (HISD). Yates was named after Reverend John Henry "Jack" Yates, a former slave and a minister. Jack Yates and other leading blacks established the Houston Baptist Academy. Within a decade, the success of the school prompted Reverend Yates to reorganize the Houston Baptist Academy as the Houston College, the school offered a special opportunity to the black children of the community who sought an alternative to the Colored High School of the public school system.
