2021–22 Martyr's Memorial A-Division League
The 2021–22 ''Martyr's Memorial'' A-Division League ( Nepali: शहीद स्मारक ए डिभिजन लिग २०७८), also known as the Qatar Airways ''Martyr's Memorial'' A-Division League for sponsorship reasons, was the 44th edition of the Martyr's Memorial A-Division League since its establishment in 1954/55. A total of 14 teams competed in the league. Machhindra F.C. were the defending champions. Due to time constraints, instead of the league winner, Machhindra F.C., the top team after matchday 7, will represent the league in the 2022 AFC Cup Preliminary Round 1. The league was scheduled to begin on 19 September 2021 but was pushed back to begin on 15 November 2021 after multiple participating clubs' demand to postpone the league start due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in Nepal. Martyr's Memorial A-Division League
Martyr's Memorial A-Division League ( Nepali: शहीद स्मारक ए- डिभिजन लिग; formerly known as the Kathmandu League Championship) is the top divisions of football in Nepal. Contested by 12 to 16 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation within the Martyr's Memorial B-Division League. The season usually runs from November to March with every team playing each other once and the top six teams reach the Super Six round, where the teams again play each other once. It is officially known as the Qatar Airways Martyr's Memorial A-Division League. A new Nepal National League was created in 2011 to give chance to compete A level tournaments to the clubs outside Kathmandu valley. Three Star Club is a Nepali professional football club based in Patan, Lalitpur, that competes in the Qatar Airways Martyr's Memorial A-Division League, the top flight of Nepalese football. The club was previously known as the ''Laxmi Bank Three Star Club'' and ''Ruslan Three Star Club'' for sponsorship reasons. Sankata Boys Sports Club, commonly known as Sankata Club, is a Nepalese professional football club based in Kathmandu, that competes in the Martyr's Memorial A-Division League. Named after Sankata Temple, the club has won the national championship three times, most recently in 1985. New Road Team ( ne, न्यु रोड टिम; better known by its abbreviation NRT) is a Nepalese multi-sports club, widely known for its football achievements. The club is based in Tripureshwor, Kathmandu. They compete in the Martyr's Memorial A-Division League. History NRT was established in 1991 BS (1934 AD). Besides sports, the club was also active in mobilizing youth against the autocratic Rana regime. NRT is the oldest existing club in the Nepal. Himalayan Sherpa Club is a Nepali professional football club based in the city of Kathmandu (originally from Hattigauda), that competes in the Martyr's Memorial A-Division League, top flight of Nepali football. They play at the Dasarath Rangasala Stadium. History The club was founded on 25 September 2006 and played their first tournament at the 2007 edition of the Aaha! Gold Cup. The 2010 Martyr's Memorial A-Division League (known as the Martyrs' Memorial San Miguel 'A' Division League Football Tournament 2010 for sponsorship reasons) was the 38th season of the Martyr's Memorial A-Division League since its establishment in 1954/55. A total of 12 teams competed in the league. The season began on 12 February 2010 and concluded on 14 June 2010. It was the first time the League held since 2006-07, as the seasons in the mean time were cancelled due to conflicts between ANFA and the clubs.''
