2021–22 Kentucky Wildcats Women's Basketball Team
The 2021–22 Kentucky Wildcats women's basketball team represented the University of Kentucky during the 2021–22 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Wildcats, led by second-year head coach Kyra Elzy, will play most of their home games at Memorial Coliseum (University of Kentucky), Memorial Coliseum and two at Rupp Arena and compete as members of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). In the January 27 loss to Vanderbilt, senior guard Rhyne Howard scored her 2,000th point in her college career. Howard becomes the third Wildcat to reach that benchmark. Previous season The 2020–21 Kentucky Wildcats women's basketball team, Wildcats finished the season 18–9 (9–6 SEC) to finish tied for fifth place in the conference. Kyra Elzy
Kyra Elzy (born August 17, 1978) is the head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats women's basketball team. On December 14, 2020, after starting the season 6-0 and having a top-ten AP ranking, AD Mitch Barnhart removed the "interim" tag and made Elzy the head coach. College career Elzy attended Tennessee between 1996 and 2001, sitting out the 1998 – 99 season due to an injury. Under acclaimed coach Pat Summitt, she was a member of the teams that won the national championship in 1997 and 1998, as well as the team that finished as the national runner-up in 2000. Blythewood is a town in Richland and Fairfield counties, South Carolina, United States. It is a suburb of Columbia, South Carolina. Bradley Central High School is a public high school located in Cleveland, Tennessee that serves approximately 1,700 students from grades 9-12. It was founded in 1916, and is part of the Bradley County Schools system. Harlan County is a county located in southeastern Kentucky. As of the 2020 census, the population was 26,831. Its county seat is Harlan. The Tennessee Lady Volunteers basketball team represents the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee in NCAA women's basketball competition. The Auburn Tigers women's basketball program is the intercollegiate women's basketball team that represents Auburn University.
