2021–22 Carolina Hurricanes Season
The 2021–22 Carolina Hurricanes season was the 43rd season for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise that was established in June 1979, and 24th season since the franchise relocated from the Hartford Whalers to start the 1997–98 NHL season. On April 9, 2022, the Hurricanes clinched a playoff berth after a 5–3 win against the Buffalo Sabres. In the playoffs, the Hurricanes defeated the Boston Bruins in the first round in seven games but they were upset in the Second Round by the New York Rangers, losing in seven games. Metropolitan Division
The National Hockey League's Metropolitan Division (often referred to simply as the "Metro Division") was formed in 2013 as one of the two divisions in the Eastern Conference (NHL), Eastern Conference as part of a league realignment. It is also a successor of the original Atlantic Division (NHL, 1993–2013), Atlantic Division and one of the two successors to the Southeast Division (NHL), Southeast Division. Six of its teams were previously together in the Patrick Division from 1981 to 1993 (one joined in 1982). Hartford Whalers
The Hartford Whalers were a professional ice hockey team based for most of its existence in Hartford, Connecticut. The club played in the World Hockey Association (WHA) from 1972 until 1979, and in the National Hockey League (NHL) from 1979 to 1997. Originally based in Boston, the team joined the WHA in the league's inaugural season, and was known as the New England Whalers throughout its time in the WHA. The Whalers moved to Hartford in 1974 and joined the NHL in the NHL–WHA merger of 1979. In 1997, the Whalers franchise relocated to North Carolina, where it became the Carolina Hurricanes. The 2021–22 Montreal Canadiens season was the 113th for the club that was established on December 4, 1909, and their 105th season as a franchise in the National Hockey League. The 2021–22 New York Islanders season was the 50th season in the franchise's history. It was their first season in UBS Arena. Before the season, the Islanders lost Jordan Eberle to the Seattle Kraken in the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft. On April 17, 2022, the Islanders were eliminated from playoff contention following a 4–2 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs. The 2021–22 Nashville Predators season was the 24th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 25, 1997. John Hynes entered his third season and second full season as head coach of the team. The Predators opened the season at home on October 14, 2021, against the NHL's expansion team, the Seattle Kraken. The Predators lost the game 4–3, giving the Kraken the franchise's first-ever win. Amalie Arena
Amalie Arena (officially stylized as AMALIE Arena) is a multipurpose arena in Tampa, Florida, that has been used for ice hockey, basketball, arena football, concerts, and other events. Antti Raanta (born 12 May 1989) is a Finnish professional ice hockey goaltender currently playing for the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League (NHL). Raanta was initially signed by the Chicago Blackhawks as an undrafted free agent. He has also played for the New York Rangers and the Arizona Coyotes. Playing career Lukko (2009–2011) In March 2008, Raanta signed a three-year-contract with Rauman Lukko of the Finnish Liiga. The 2021–22 New York Rangers season was the franchise's 95th season of play and their 96th season overall.
