2021–22 Big South Conference Men's Basketball Season
The 2021–22 Big South Conference men's basketball season started non-conference play on November 9, 2021, and began conference play on January 5, 2022. The regular season ended on February 26, 2022, setting up the 2021–22 Big South Conference men's basketball tournament from March 2 to March 6. Conference changes Due the offseason addition of the North Carolina A&T Aggies the Big South changed the conference play format. The conference was split into a north and south division. The north included Campbell, Hampton, High Point, Longwood, North Carolina A&T and Radford while the south consisted of Charleston Southern, Gardner-Webb, Presbyterian, UNC Asheville, USC Upstate and Winthrop. Conference play consisted of 96 total games with each team playing 16 games. Each team played 10 intra-division games and 6 cross-division games. Tubby Smith
Orlando Henry "Tubby" Smith (born June 30, 1951) is an American college basketball coach. He was the men's basketball coach at High Point University, his alma mater. Smith previously served in the same role at the University of Tulsa, the University of Georgia, the University of Kentucky, the University of Minnesota, Texas Tech University, and the University of Memphis. With Kentucky, he coached the Wildcats to the 1998 NCAA championship. In his 31 years as a head coach, Smith achieved 26 winning seasons. Western Carolina Catamounts Men's Basketball
The Western Carolina Catamounts men's basketball team is the intercollegiate men' basketball team that represents Western Carolina University. The team currently competes in the Southern Conference. Mike Morrell (basketball)
Mike Morrell (born August 22, 1982) is an American college basketball coach, and current head coach of the UNC Asheville Bulldogs men's basketball team. Playing career Morrell was a two-sport athlete at Milligan College playing both basketball and golf. He was a three-year starter and 1,000-point scorer in men's basketball and two-time all-league selection in golf. Morrell is still listed in the Milligan College men's basketball record books. Quinton Ferrell (born September 29, 1985) is an American college basketball coach and the current head men's basketball coach at Presbyterian College. Playing career Farrell played basketball for Presbyterian from 2003–2007. A team captain his senior year, he led the Blue Hose in assists and steals in his final two seasons. He was twice named the teams Most Valuable Defensive Player. Coaching career After he graduated, he joined his alma mater as an assistant coach for five seasons.
