2021 World Para Athletics European Championships
The 2021 World Para Athletics European Championships was a track and field competition for athletes with a disability open to International Paralympic Committee (IPC) affiliated countries within Europe and a refugee team with one athlete. This was the 7th edition of the event. This was also the first time that the event was held in Poland. Around 670 athletes competed at the event. History The event was originally scheduled to be held between 3 and 7 June 2020. On 26 March 2020, it was announced that the event would be postponed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, and in June it was confirmed that the postponement would be until 2021. Liudmyla Danylina (born 11 September 1985) is a Ukrainian Paralympic athlete competing in T20-classification middle-distance running events. In 2021, she won the silver medal in the women's 1500 metres T20 event at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan. She also represented Ukraine at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio, Brazil and she won the bronze medal in the women's 1500 metres T20 event. Catherine Debrunner
Catherine Debrunner (born 11 April 1995) is a Swiss athlete and teacher. She has competed for Team Switzerland at the 2019 World Para Athletics Championships where she won a gold and silver medal. Early life Debrunner was born on 11 April 1995 in Mettendorf, Switzerland. Due to a birth defect in her spine, she uses a wheelchair. While attending a sports camp in Nottwil, she met her future trainer and coach Paul Odermatt. Career Debrunner competed in the T53 200 metres at the 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships, where she earned a silver medal with a time of 30.64. She qualified for the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio, where she finished seventh in the Women's 400 metres. Debrunner subsequently took a break from sports to focus on her education before returning to Team Switzerland for the 2019 World Para Athletics Championships. Nikita den Boer (born 8 January 1991) is a Dutch wheelchair racer. She won the bronze medal in the women's marathon T54 event at the 2020 Summer Paralympics held in Tokyo, Japan. In 2020, she won the women's wheelchair race at the London Marathon in London, United Kingdom. T54 (classification)
T54 is a disability sport classification for disability athletics in the track and jump events. The class includes people with spinal cord injuries who compete using a wheelchair in track events. They have paraplegia, but have normal hand and arm function, normal or limited trunk function, and no leg function. This class includes CP-ISRA classes CP3 and CP4, and some athletes in ISOD classes A1, A2 and A3. Definition This classification is for track and jump events in disability athletics. Ilona Biacsi (born 29 December 1985) is a Hungarian Paralympic athlete competing mainly in category T20 middle-distance events. Biacsi competed at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London, winning a bronze medal in the women's 1,500m race in her classification. She also won the European Championship title in the 1,500 metres in 2014 in Swansea. Barbara Bieganowska-Zając ( Niewiedział born 1 September 1981) is a Paralympian athlete from Poland competing mainly in category T20 sprint and middle-distance events. She is a two time Paralympic gold medalist in the 800m (2000) and 1,500 metres (2012) races and has won four World Athletic titles. T11 (classification)
B1 is a medical-based Paralympic classification for blind sport. Athletes in this classification are totally or almost totally blind. It is used by a number of blind sports including blind tennis, para-alpine skiing, para-Nordic skiing, blind cricket, blind golf, five-a-side football, goalball and judo. Some other sports, including adaptive rowing, athletics and swimming, have equivalents to this class.
