2021 WNBL–Philippines Draft
The 2021 WNBL–Philippines draft was the Women's National Basketball League (Philippines), league's draft for the 2021 WNBL–Philippines season which is also the first season of the WNBL as a professional league. It is the first ever draft of the league. Delayed by restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines, COVID-19 pandemic, the draft was held on February 13, 2021. Fille Claudine Cainglet by the Glutagence Glow Boosters was the first overall pick of the draft. Combine The draft combine was held from December 12 to 13, 2020 at the Victoria Sports Tower in Quezon City with 148 participants. It was earlier supposed to be held from October 12 to 16 in Pampanga under a "bubble" setup as part of precautionary measures related to the COVID-19 pandemic. 2021 WNBL–Philippines Season
The 2021 WNBL–Pilipinas season, also known as the 2021 Pia Cayetano WNBL season, is the second season of the Women's National Basketball League (WNBL) of the Philippines. It is also the first season of the WNBL as a professional league as recognized by the Games and Amusement Board of the Philippine government. The season started on July 18, 2021. On July 29, the league announced through their Facebook page that the games were postponed due to the implementation of the highest quarantine restriction (Enhanced Community Quarantine) in Metro Manila beginning on August 6. The season resumed on September 18 after quarantine restrictions in Metro Manila eased up. Allana May Lim (born September 12, 1988) is a Filipino professional basketball player for the Parañaque Lady Aces of the WNBL–Philippines. College career She became a key player for the FEU Lady Tamaraws of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) helping her team reach the final in Season 73 and clinch the title in Season 74. She was also named as the Season 74 MVP. Professional career After her graduation from FEU, she was signed in to play for KL Ruby of the Malaysian Women's Basketball League (MWBL). The National Basketball League (NBL), also known as NBL–Philippines or NBL–Pilipinas, is a regional professional basketball league in the Philippines. History On June 7, 2018, Celso "Soy" Mercado established the league and named National Basketball League Philippines to search undiscovered talents.
