2021 Southland Conference Softball Tournament
The 2021 Southland Conference tournament was held at North Oak Park in Hammond, Louisiana, from May 11 through 14, 2021. The tournament winner, McNeese, earned the Southland Conference's automatic bid to the 2021 NCAA Division I softball tournament. All games were broadcast on ESPN+. Format The tournament was a 7 team double elimination format. The top seeded team, McNeese, received a bye in first round competition. Seeds Teams were seeded by record within the conference, with a tie–breaker system to seed teams with identical conference records. All seven teams in the conference qualified for the tournament. Tie–breaker procedures were not required. * Incarnate Word, Nicholls, Lamar, and Texas A&M–Corpus Christi failed to qualify as members in the tournament field. Double-elimination Tournament
A double-elimination tournament is a type of elimination tournament competition in which a participant ceases to be eligible to win the tournament's championship upon having lost ''two'' games or matches. The Southland Conference softball tournament is the conference championship tournament in college softball for the Southland Conference (SLC). It is a double-elimination tournament and seeding is based on regular season records. The winner receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Softball Championship, NCAA Division I softball tournament. Tournament The Southland Conference softball tournament is a double-elimination tournament held each year at various SLC campus stadiums. The top seven SLC softball teams participate in the tournament (barring NCAA sanctions). Of the ten current members, only the New Orleans Privateers, University of New Orleans does not sponsor softball.
