2021 Notre Dame Fighting Irish Men's Soccer Team
The 2021 Notre Dame Fighting Irish men's soccer team represented the University of Notre Dame during the 2021 NCAA Division I men's soccer season. It was the program's 44th season. It was the program's ninth season competing in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Fighting Irish were led by head coach Chad Riley, in his fourth year and played their home games at Alumni Stadium in Notre Dame, Indiana. The Fighting Irish finished the season 14–5–5 overall and 4–2–2 in ACC play to finish in third place in the Coastal Division. As the fifth overall seed in the ACC Tournament they defeated NC State in the First Round, Louisville on penalties in the Second Round, Pittsburgh in the Semifinals, and Duke in the Final to win the tournament. Alumni Stadium (Notre Dame)
Alumni Stadium is the on-campus soccer stadium in natural grass at the University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Indiana. The current tenants are the Notre Dame Fighting Irish men's & women's soccer teams. The 3,007 -seat stadium was built between April 26, 2008, and September 1, 2009. It was first used on September 4, 2009, when the women's team played North Carolina and the men's team played Wake Forest. Capacity is increased via a grass berm on the east end of the ground. Its largest crowd was 3,511 guests to assist the women's team versus Tulsa on September 2, 2011. It has hosted NCAA tournament games. 2020 Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Soccer Season
The 2020 Atlantic Coast Conference men's soccer season will be the 67th season of men's varsity soccer in the conference. Clemson are the defending champions of the Atlantic Conference and the Virginia are the defending champions of the Coastal Conference. Wake Forest are the defending ACC tournament Champions. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the season has been significantly modified from previous seasons. The teams were reorganized geographically, and will play a six-game conference season. The season will begin on September 18, 2020, instead of August 28, 2020 and conclude on November 7, 2020. A modified spring season was also played due to the pandemic. The 2021 MLS SuperDraft was the 22nd edition of the SuperDraft conducted by Major League Soccer. The SuperDraft is held every January prior to the start of the MLS season. The 2020 SuperDraft was the first held exclusively via conference call and web streaming.
