2021 North Macedonia Census
The 2021 North Macedonia census, officially known as the Census of Population, Households and Dwellings, 2021, was the third census held in North Macedonia since independence, and the first since 2002. The census recorded a resident population of 1,836,713, a decrease of 9.2 percent, or 185,834, over the preceding 19 years. The census was taken during the COVID-19 pandemic, which affected its administration. It was also considered controversial by some Macedonian groups; the opposition party The Left openly led a boycott. 132,260 individuals (7.2% of the population) did not participate in the census and are officially labelled as "persons for whom data are taken from administrative sources"; no ethnic, language, or religious information is available for these individuals. The Bosniaks in North Macedonia ( mk, Бошњаци, bs, Bošnjaci / Бошњаци) number 17,018 people according to the 2002 census. The population is largely concentrated in and around the capital Skopje, but also in the municipalities of Veles and Dolneni. Macedonian Orthodox Church
The Macedonian Orthodox Church – Archdiocese of Ohrid (MOC-AO; mk, Македонска православна црква – Охридска архиепископија), or simply the Macedonian Orthodox Church (MOC) or the Archdiocese of Ohrid (AO), is an autocephalous Eastern Orthodox church in North Macedonia. The Socialist Party of Macedonia ( mk, Социјалистичка партија на Македонија, ''Socijalistička Partija na Makedonija'', SPM) is a political party in North Macedonia founded on 22 September 1990 as a successor to the Socialist Alliance of Working People of Yugoslavia. The SPM proclaims itself to be a left-wing democratic socialist party. The SPM was part of the coalition governments from 1992 to 1998, led by the SDSM. COVID-19 Pandemic In North Macedonia
The COVID-19 pandemic in North Macedonia is part of the ongoing worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 () caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (). Hristijan Mickoski ( mk, Христијан Мицкоски, ) is a Macedonian politician, university professor and president of VMRO-DPMNE. In 2016, he became the director of JSC "Power Plants of Macedonia", and in the period 2015—2017 he was energy advisor to the prime ministers Nikola Gruevski and Emil Dimitriev. He was elected leader of VMRO-DPMNE at the party's 16th congress in Valandovo. Biography Mickoski was born on 29 September 1977 in Skopje, then in SFR Yugoslavia. He was the president of ELEM, the state-owned electricity producing company. He became a PhD and an associate professor at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Ss.
