2021 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Season
The 2021 NCAA Division I men's soccer season was the 63rd season of NCAA championship men's college soccer. After the 2020 NCAA Division I men's soccer season was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 season partially returned to normal. However, despite the development of several vaccines, the pandemic was still ongoing, which might have led to various local or regional disruptions. Also, many conferences did not fully return to their pre-COVID state, with several having changed postseason tournament formats. The season began on August 27, 2021, and concluded on November 14. The season culminates with the 2021 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Tournament, which was held from November 17 to December 12, with the four-team College Cup at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina. Kyle Beckerman
Kyle Robert Beckerman (born April 23, 1982) is an American former professional soccer player who played as a midfielder. He spent 21 seasons in Major League Soccer (MLS) with the Miami Fusion (2000–2001), Colorado Rapids (2002–2007) and Real Salt Lake (2007–2020). He was a starting central defensive midfielder and captain when RSL won MLS Cup 2009. He also earned 58 caps with the United States national team. Robert Irvine (soccer)
Robert Irvine (born September 5, 1974) is an English born Canadian former soccer player and soccer coach. Playing career Irvine played in 1998 with Albany Alleycats in the USISL D-3 Pro League. Midway through the season he signed with the Toronto Lynx of the USL A-League, and made his debut on July 19, 1998 against Rochester Raging Rhinos. Brian Plotkin (born August 3, 1984 in Lisle, Illinois) is the head Coach of the Army Black Knights men's soccer team and is a retired professional soccer player. Career College and Amateur Brian Plotkin played college soccer for Indiana University from 2002 to 2005, featuring in 90 games and accumulating 24 goals and 36 assists. He was a member of National Championship winning teams in 2003 and 2004. He was the runner-up for the 2005 Hermann Trophy Award and was also named NSCAA First Team All-American and Big 10 Player of the Year. He also went on to gain First Team All Big Ten honors three consecutive years from 2003 to 2005, and an Academic All Big-Ten award in 2003. The Army Black Knights men's soccer program represents the United States Military Academy (West Point) in all NCAA Division I men's college soccer competitions. Founded in 1921, the Black Knights compete in the Patriot League. Leonard Griffin (soccer)
Leonard Griffin (born September 11, 1982 in Pasadena, California) is an American former soccer player, who currently serves as the head coach for the California men's soccer team. Career College and Amateur Griffin attended Littlerock High School in Littlerock, California, and was a four-year letterman in soccer. He was a three-time first team All-League honoree, and as a senior, he was a Los Angeles Daily News first team All-Area honoree, and set the school single-season record for goals (24 goals). Griffin played college soccer at the UCLA from 2000 to 2003. Schellas Hyndman (born November 4, 1951) is a retired soccer coach. He was previously head coach of FC Dallas in Major League Soccer. Despite having a limited career as a professional athlete, Hyndman is one of the most successful college soccer coaches in American sports history, compiling a 466–122–49 record as the head coach at Southern Methodist University. Russell Payne (soccer)
Russell Payne (born July 13, 1975, in Columbia, Maryland) is an American soccer coach and former player. Payne is a former goalkeeper who is currently the head coach of the Northwestern Wildcats men's soccer team. He played professionally in Germany, Ireland and Major League Soccer. Player Youth Payne graduated from Glenelg High School where he was a 1992 Second Team All-Met Boys' Soccer Goalkeeper. He then attended the University of Maryland where he was a four-year (1993–1996) on the men's soccer team. He was an All-ACC selection as a sophomore and led the Atlantic Coast Conference as a senior with a 0.88 goals against average (GAA).
