2017 Lincolnshire County Council Election
The 2017 Lincolnshire County Council election took place in non-metropolitan Lincolnshire on 4 May 2017 as part of the 2017 local elections in the United Kingdom. A total of 70 councillors were elected across the seven non-metropolitan districts that make up the administrative county of Lincolnshire from 70 single member electoral divisions by first-past-the-post voting for a four-year term of office. The election did not include North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire as they are separate unitary authorities. All locally registered electors ( British, Irish, Commonwealth and European Union citizens) who were aged 18 or over on Thursday 4 May 2017 were entitled to vote in the local elections. Karen Lee (politician)
Karen Elizabeth Lee (born 15 January 1959) is a British Labour Party politician. She was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Lincoln between the 2017 general election and the 2019 general election. She defeated the sitting Conservative MP, Karl McCartney by 1,538 votes in the 2017 general election but lost to him in 2019. In July 2017, Lee was appointed Parliamentary Private Secretary to Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell. In January 2018, Lee was promoted to Labour's Shadow Home Office Team as Shadow Minister for Fire and Rescue Services. Early life and career Karen Lee was educated at South Park High School, Lincoln and Lincoln College, Lincolnshire. She has lived in Lincoln for all of her life. The South Holland Independents are a British political party based in South Holland District in the county of Lincolnshire, England. The group was formed in 2021 by several independent councillors on South Holland District Council. History In the 2021 Lincolnshire County Council election, the party elected 3 councillors. In the 2023 South Holland District Council election, the party elected 15 councillors, leaving the Conservative administration with a majority of 1. They also managed to unseat the council's leader, Gary Porter. In November 2023, the party lost a seat to the Conservatives: the result of the vote count had been a tie, so it was decided by drawing lots.
